Question about Yamaha TZR 250 R Motorcycles
The tap is not the problem, it is working as it should. The problem is that the float needles are not shutting off the fuel as they should. Turn the gas off then remove the float bowl on one carb and check for trash in the bowl. Turn the gas back on while gently lifting the float. Now lower the float. The fuel should flow when the float is lowered and stop flowing when the float is raised. If it still flows with the float raised, turn of the gas then check to see if the mechanic forgot to install the float needle by removing the pin that mounts the float/needle assembly. Most carbs attach the float tang to the needle with a small clip. Is the clip missing? The needle can get out of position and not close properly without it. The float should be light as a feather and nothing inside rattling around. A float that doesn't float will never shut off the gas. If the float is good, disconnect the gas line at the carb then get a can of carb cleaner with a "straw" to direct the spray and stick the straw into the opening where the needle goes and spray into the hole. Trash may be holding the needle open. The spray should clear the trash out. If the float floats and there is no trash holding the float open and the needle kills the gas, the floats are way out of adjustment. Below is a generic float assembly. Please take a moment and rate my answer. Thanks!
