Right ! But what I want to do is lower the rear of my motorcycle and thought smaller shocks would do the trick, maybe cut off 2

You could do what i did to lower the rear by 1 inch and keep the ride the same. But if you want to lower the bike or to soften the ride then adjust the shocks to let the shock to be more soft ride.I wanted to save money and have a tire that would last lots longer than a motorcycle tire so i installed a 185/65r-15 and it lower the bike 1 inch and the tire is over 2 years old and cant tell it has been used.5

If your cycle speedometer reads that you are going 55 MPH but cars are passing you because you are only going 51 MPH, you can put on a 110/90 x 19 you you should be able to correct the reading. But only if you have room for the tire under the fender.

2001 Honda VT 1100 C2 Shadow Sabre front end shakes at 35 to 40 mph

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Improperly loaded motorcycle. Non-standard equipment on the front end such as heavy radio receivers extra lighting equipment or luggage tends to cause unstable handling.
2. Incorrect air suspension pressure.
3. Damaged tires or improper front-rear tire combination.
4. Irregular or peaked front tire tread wear.
5. Incorrect tire pressure.
6. The shock absorber is not functioning normally.
7. Loose wheel axle nuts. Torque to recommended specifications.
8. Excessive wheel hub bearing end play.
9. Improperly vehicle alignment.
10. Steering head bearings improperly adjusted.
11. Tire and wheel unbalanced.
12. Rims and tires are out-of-round or eccentric with the hub.
13. Rims and tires are out-of-true sideways.
14. Loose spokes.
15. Shock absorber improperly adjusted.
16. Worn engine stabilizer links.
17. Damaged rear engine isolation mounts.
18. Swing arm pivot shaft improperly tightened or assembled.

How do you change the back tire on a 1988 honda shadow 600 vlx ??

you don't have a centerstand so you'll need a racestand or ATV jack to raise your bike up off the floor..Disconnect rear brake linkage, unbolt and remove axle, roll tire forward a couple inches and remove chain from rr sprocket, have tire fixed or replaced..reinstall is opposite of removal...Good Luck to you friend....Tim
