Clutch not engage, try adjusting the 14mm nut at the rightside crankcase cover loosen the 14mm just a bit that you can turn the flatscrew at the center of that 14mm nut turn the flatscrew half turn only clockwise. then tighten the 14mm nut... then try... repeat until desire clutch level achieve... if it still not working the clutch linning might have been worn out... clutch linning lifespan maximum of 30000 km or 5 yrs, which ever may comes first... but i congratulate you for having that bike that one of the most toughest bike ive ever had and fuel economy... hope that this help...

2013 Honda 420 Fourtrax. After sitting won't go into neutral to start

Hey Judy,
Will it go into neutral after you move it forward or backward a little? Sometimes the transmissions in a motorcycle/ATV will be very hard to get into neutral,,, the dogs on the transmission gears are undercut a tiny amount to keep the gears engaged under power. Try this and reply to me.

I have a 1998 Acura CL 3.0 V6 that doesn't seem to have the ability to engage any gears it seems like it's always in neutral I push the gas in the engine just revs comma but never Finds any gear. Help

Check your transmissions fluid level, if level good, and your sure shift cable is hooked up, you may have a serious problem inside transmission,

I have a 2007 sportster that seems to skip neutral goin from first to second gear and from second to first both with the engine on and off. The gage N light doesnt even flash when passing through those...

Hey chris , i wouldnt worry about the neutral light coming on when your shifting thru the gears on acceleration. If your light isnt working or you missing neutral , try adjusting your clutch. Then if that isnt the probably find your neutral switch connector and ground the terminals together and your light should pop on . If not replace the switch. Im not sure what gauge you have there might be bulb for the neutral light also .

When i engage eiather 1st or 2nd gear from neutral bike seems to grab and make a clunk noise, once rolling no problems

Older 4 speed transmissions were known for their "clunk" going into 1st gear.

However, even though you didn't give a model year, I'll assume you mean something newer than those.

If it "grabs" when going from neutral to 1st (bike wants to "jump"), it usually means the clutch push rod (under the primary cover's "Derby cover) needs adjustment, followed by the clutch cable.

As far as the leak where the cable enters the transmission, there is an "o-ring" seal that might need replacing.

Transmission ?

My first guess is that the gears are engaging, but if it's the original 12 year old clutch, it might not be grabbing.
Pull primary cover, put into first and try to pull forward while someone is watching clutch to see if it's locking up ok.

1986 honda 350 fourtrax, runs good but every now and then start, run and as soon as tou put it into gear it will quit just as if you shut off the key

I had the same problem. I bypass the neutral switch, the green light always stay on, and my atv never shut off again. Be carefull, that way your atv can start even if your transmission is engage in speed

94 mitsub won't shift to overdrive

The best case scenario is that your overdrive switch is malfunctioning, and simply needs to be replaced, along with flushing your transmission fluid and replacing the transmission fluid.

The worst case scenario is that you have a band or solenoid in your transmission that is broken and not engaging your overdrive. Your transmission has 3 gears, and when the overdrive is engaged, it simply links 2 or more to the gears together to achieve overdrive. It would seem that something is preventing that from happening when the engine is cold, and simply making the gears spin freely as in neutral.

I would recommend finding a transmission shop to inspect this problem. It may be a simple $100 fix, or could end up costing you a couple thousand for a transmission rebuild. But get the inspection from a transmission professional before performing any repairs. And don't be afraid to get more that one opinion from more than one transmission shop.
Good luck!

Neutral light does not come on until 2nd gear is engaged

The neutral light should only light between 1st and 2nd gears. There may be a "false neutral" at other places. Wear exacerbates (i love big words) the size of these but they don't hurt anything as long as the bike shifts well.
