I'm assuming you mean gas comes out the spark plug hole with the plug removed??? You probably have a gummed up carburator, due to old gas or dirt. Make sure your air filter is clean first, and then get your carburator thoroughly cleaned. If your float is sticking, or the float needle is dirty or worn out, it will keep dumping fuel to the engine.

I have a pw 80 start fine then begins to splutter when riding through the gears it dies then starts up again

Try disassembling and cleaning the carburetor. Inspect the in take manifold gasket for leaks, rips, tears, separation, etc. and inspect the reeds for possible damage. Change the spark plug and the spark plug cap. You can purchase an NGK spark plug cap for about $5, if the resister goes bad you can get an intermittent spark. Lastly, replace the fuel in the tank just in case it is old or a bad batch of gas, so it does not cause the problem to resurface.

Hi, Dave_voss and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Discharged battery, needs to be 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test, your battery may show 12.5 volts or more but has little or zero amps causing the battery to be faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this category more so than lead acid batteries.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
5. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting/leaking, spark plug cable connections loose check for spark leakage in the dark.

8. Faulty ignition switch.
9. Tilt sensor needs a reset.

My yamaha pw 80 kickstart wont kick

Below is a diagram of the inner part of the kick starter. The spring clip shown is the problem. If it gets weak, it doesn't hold the ratchet gear as snugly as is needed. It is best to install a new clip but often you can just squeeze the clip closed a bit for a better hold to the gear. Please rate my answer. Thanks!

check first if spark plug working you can see spark light on it upon kickstart. then proceed with the gas carburetor if gas intake working and not stuck. if no power goes to spark plug trace the source. first the cdi then the ignition coil and the voltage regulator.
