Question about Harley Davidson FLSTC - FLSTCI Heritage Classic Motorcycles

Vancehines fuel pak on a 2005 heritage classic. If i disconnect the battery do i have to reprogram the fuel pak settings or does the unit retain the settings?

Not really; I don't think that to disconnect your Batt will change the program set on the Fuelpack....It's will remain in the unit memory...

2005 flstci softail classic, cut out, no indicators no instruments, but horn and lights working, engine circuit dead, all fuses look good, any idea on what the problem could be?

Hi Derrick, and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or damaged battery.
2. Loose, corroded or broken battery cable.
3. Alternator not charging or below normal rates.
4. Failed ignition coil, ignition/electronic module.
5. Failed CKP, CPS, CMP, MAP, TPS, or BAS sensor.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Water or dirt in fuel system, carburetor or filter.
8. Fuel tank vent system plugged or gas cap not venting.
9. Fuel tank empty.
10. Fuel valve vacuum line broken or carburator vent line closed off.
11. Restricted, blocked or kinked fuel line.
12. Failed fuel pump, pressure regulator and or fuel injectors.

How to do the timing on a 2005 heritage solftail

Hey Bud,

The timing is Pre-Set & is controlled by the Ignition Computer Module. If yours is fuel injected you will need a possible Mapp adjustment from the dealer. If it is Carb you can possibly achieve what you are trying to accomplish by adjusting the idle or by removing the fuel/air adjustment factory sealed cap and strive to find the results you want.

Fuel gauge not working

Hi Anonymous, check for broken or loose wires under gauge, then disconnect wires and remove gauge. With a set of jumper wires hooked up to the battery connect the positive lead to the fuel gage and flash the negative lead to the ground post on the gauge, if the needle pegs the gauge is probaly ok. if nothing happens you have a bad gauge and needs to be replaced. Then ckeck the wiring on the sending unit, if ok remove sending unit from fuel tank and connect it back up to the fuel gauge, use a test lite to make sure you have power to the gauge and sending unit with the ignition switch on. Manually raise and lower the float assembly and watch the gauge, if nothing happens you have a bad sending unit/float assembly and needs to be replaced. Good luck

Fuel gauge reads full when half empty also ignition switch sometimes does not work

Hi Anonymous, you could have a faulty sending unit or guage, there could be a problem with your wiring. On models with the fuel gauge posing as a left hand fuel cap the gauge is a press fit do not try to unscrew it, simply ample force lift up in a rocking motion to remove gauge. Disconnect wires to the gauge and with a set of positive and negative jumpers from the battery connect the positive jumper and flash the negative, gauge should peg full, if not replace gauge. With a test light check for power to the sending unit, then remove the sending unit and manually operate the float arm slowly with the correct wiring hooked up to the fuel gauge and sending unit and the ignition on, the gauge should respond accordingly if not replace the float arm assembly. Considering how tricky the fuel sending unit is to remove for some people Im gonna reccomend you take it to the dealer simply because even seasoned techs break things in the tank

Fuel light

Soundsa like computer problem.Hooking up new battery created a fault code.Check for faults an check manual for how to reset.Bet the code says fuel fault and will direct how to reset.Hope that helps.

Stalls on cold start up

Now, I don't know a lot about the electronic fuel injection systems on Harleys but I would guess that there would be an engine temperature sensor on the engine somewhere that would tell the computer that the engine is cold and to enrichen the mixture. The engine should go into high idle speed until the temperature comes up to a certain point as well.

Fuel clog in carb or injector, or the magnetic pick up for the electronic ignition.....the spark plugs need to be checked also....lots of variables, but thats a start

2007 heritage softail It started up then died and now just spins and will not start. Everything seems to be working right.

form the sound of it you need a new clutch pak in the starter. Its pretty simply fix. don't let them sell u a new starter just a clutch pak for the starter. I take it by spinning u are not talking about the motor turning over. If its turning over then its not the starter.
