Check the kill switch on the handle bar and the switch on the side stand. Use a multimeter to be sure they are operating properly. Check the fuses with the meter as well. Get a new spark plug and check for spark before installing. Be sure the metal side of the plug is grounded against the cylinder head when checking spark. Is the battery good? If you don't have or know how to use a multimeter, Radio Shack can sell you one for $10 ors and show you how to use it in about 30 seconds. Please rate my answer. Thanks!

My Yumbo Dakar 200cc bike dies after riding in 5th gear reving medium-highish for a couple of minutes, it usually just dies after i hit the clutch (coasting), but on long runs @ around 50-60mph in 5th gear...

G'day,
I have a couple of ideas what may help.
First I would think it was starving for fuel.Or maybe an unusual ignition system fault- So how do we find out?
Well-you could try checking the bike for spark immediately after the bike stops.
Remove the spark plug-Re-fit to the cap-place plug resting on metal where you can see it(DO NOT HOLD PLUG-HIGH VOLTAGE)-kick over & check for spark. If theres no spark-try a new plug but if the problem persists then the bike has a faulty ignition(coil,cap,plug,stator.ignition/kill switch, wireing)
I think it is more likely starving for fuel.
A faulty fuel tank filler cap vent or carby vent tube pinched or blocked.
To check the filler cap-ride the bike & when the problem just starts-quickly crack open the fuel tank filler cap to let air in/out. If bike runs ok then the cap is blocked.
To check the carby vents -just look at them & make sure none are blocked or pinched. They usually come from each side of the carby & one from the bottom(usually clear or semi-clear hoses).
I hope that this helps you with your problem.

HI there I have a yamaha sr250 and when u start it it has 1 single spark and then the spark stops.sometimes there is no spark at all. I have replaced the coil as i had a new 1 anyway this made no...

hi, the fact that you are getting a spark is good news, at least you know the cdi unit works, the bad news is the coil that produces the power at the low tension side is part of the generator, i remember that in their days this was a common problem with this model and also the trial bike version with the same engine, usin a meter check the resistance from the low tension coil,

My Suzuki AX100, 2009 model started stalling when I shifted down and also it was really tough to start (kick start), so I had the carborador cleaned. It started so smoothly right after and I toured around...

1. Have you recently replaced the air filter element?
2. Drain all fuel from tank, lines before installing renewed carburaetor then fill the bike again see what happend.
3. Make sure that when filling up no oter debris or dirt got into your tank.
4.Is your choke auto or manual? If manual ensure that it is normal after riding around as it foul up your air mixture ratio.
Good enough, please return a comment. Thanks

When it starts it runs fine..when it does not have to wait one or two day and then it will start ok..now it has been 3 days and car will not start..on going problem and the local ford dealer has no...

3 things to start up the car, air, spark and fuel. First make sure no issues with battery. Check if fuel is being pumped, if not check fuel filter and then pump. If ok, then check for spark, if no spark, check leads and then coil pack. If ok, check mass air flow sensor. There could be other issues like crank angle sensor, or knock sensor, cam sensor. Since you have been to the dealer I assume that the dealer has scanned ecu for fault codes. So check the above 3 things and let me know how you go.

try a little starting fluid in a carb see if fires if the bike fires up then dies then start checking for fuel line from tank to carb for flowing if it gets down to the carbs and not flowing (not sure if your bike includes a auto fuel shut off or not) but the problem could reside in this location otherwise there could be water in the fuel bowls in which case you drain the cups hope this helps to trace down your problem

The bike starts one day and not the next it is a suzuki vl800

There is a switch down on the kick stand, if the kick stand is in the right position it is not going to let the bike start, letting out on the clutch a little may override that switch, ck this first see if it is loose or out
of its socket, then ck the wires to the switch.
