It could be either the bulb, wiring, or the neutral indicator switch. The switch is located behind the front sprocket cover. Remove the cover and it's located just forward and down on the side of the case. Unplug the wire from the switch, turn the ignition on, and ground the connector to the engine. The indicator light should come on. If not, you have either a wiring problem or the bulb is bad. If the light does come on, the switch is bad and must be replaced. Hopefully, just the wire is off of the switch.

SOURCE: 2003 883 sportster, how do you drain the engine

warm the bike up ,then if you look in between the rear wheel and the engine case on the left hand side of the bike (if you are sat on it ) on the underside you will see a black plate (part of the frame ) and it will have a black hose on it secured by a jubilee clip , remove the jubilee clip place a oil drain pan underneath it and pull the hose away from the frame and the engine oil will drain out .

Remove the carb soak in carb cleaner, **** out small bleed holes with a wire from a wire brush etc. One of the passageways is still clogged, or the float is sticking.

Hi Bobby, the neutral light switch is located behind the behind the front pulley sprocket. To access you need to remove the rear exhaust pipe, the rear master cylinder and sprocket cover. Loosen the rear axle and adjusters and move the rear wheel forward to loosen the belt, remove front pulley and neutral light switch. 2005 xl1200 custom. neutral light is not coming on

Either the light is blown or the neutral switch is bad. The neutral switch is near the front belt pulley beneath the cover. Take the wire off and ground it with the ignition switch on. The light should light up. If not, it's probably the light blown. If it does, the switch is bad.

The neutral indicator switch is mounted in the right-hand crankcase directly forward of the main drive gear shaft and behind the forward belt pulley.

To access the switch, you must remove the front belt pulley cover. To get to the switch itself, you'll have to loosen the final drive belt and remove the pulley.

Disconnect the wire from the neutral switch. Turn the ignition on and ground the wire. The Neutral indicator light should light up. If not, you have an electrical problem between the neutral switch and the indicator light. If the light works like it should but will not work when on the switch, you need to replace the neutral indicator switch.

Simply screw the old switch out and install a new one.
