The regulator may not be working, the regulator reduces the voltage to stay under 13 volts, if it is not functioning properly the bulbs could be getting to much voltage thus burning them out.

Yamaha V Star Classic 650 headlight does not work at all... please help...


Hi, William if your headlight is not working, only one beam works, keeps burning out, blinking, or is dim the first thing you need to check is the headlight bulb for damaged filaments then check your light circuit fuse, then check your head light bulb socket ground wire for a clean tight connection, that being said the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty ground or power supply wire to headlight bulb socket.
2. Worn down solder contacts or loose fit of the bulb base in the socket due to vibration.
3. Worn, chaffed, or broken wires in the light circuit.
4. Corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets in wire connectors.
5. Faulty hi/lo beam switch.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Fuse is good but no continuity on both sides.
8. Faulty wiring between battery positive and headlight bulb socket.
9. Weak charging alternator/generator.
10. Faulty voltage regulator/rectifier ground or overcharging.

I have a 2005 yamaha yzf r1 and my headlights, brake light, and turn signals do not turn on bike runs and everything are the fuses burnt out?

Hi, Anonymous if your headlight is not working, only one beam works, keeps burning out, blinking, dim or surges from bright to dim to bright the first thing you need to check is the headlight bulb for damaged filaments then check your light circuit fuse, then check your head light bulb socket ground wire for a clean tight connection, that being said the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty ground or power supply wire to headlight bulb socket.

My tail light bulb keeps blowing. The brake light bit works but not the normal light. Ive been through 3 bulbs in two weeks. I commute 45 miles a day with the lights always on. Ive been using 12v 21/5w. I...


Try running the 'long life' or 'extended life' bulbs, They can withstand a little more in the rough service department. Also check to make sure your fender, bulb socket and tail light housing aren't loose, cracked etc. causing a higher than normal amount of vibration. A third thing to check is if your socket or the wires leading to it have a short, your tail light might be energizing alonw with the brake light anf causing the bulb to burn out.

I've got a honda cbr600rr 07, I've fitted LED indicator lights to the bike and resistors to slow the indicators down, however their still flashing to fast so ive read up to change the relay, I've found...


the thing that controls your indicators should make a clicking sound when they are turned on, try changing your bulbs back to the stock lights, if that makes no difference replace your unit :)

Xvs 1100 no headlight, tail light or instrament lights.


How's the bulb, black burned? You have shorted your instrument bulb and when putting the new one. Better take it to a bike repair garage as your wire must be burned also keeping your fuses to blow. If you want to dare, check at the end of your manual there should be an electrical diagram, just follow all wire related to you instrument and see if all are properly connected and in good conitions. Replace any wires that are burned or have a very soft mushy/bubbly plastic covers. Good enough free advise?

Problem with the left side brake light


Check your ground connections. If you're burning out bulbs all the time, it's usualy due to a bad ground. Remove the rear fender plasic inside panels and follow the bulb harness to the ground connection. Check for corrosion, if found, clean and use dielectric grease of the ground connection.

2003 Kia Sedona low beam headlights keep burning out


Check the battery voltage. If it is 15 volts or higher, it might be a bad regulator in the alternator. High voltage will kill light bulbs.
