If the starter motor is turning but the engine won't start, the first thing I'd check is to make sure you have your fuel petcock in the ON position. It is a rotary switch, usually built into a cylinder housing on the left-hand side of your bike. If you follow the fuel line you'll run right into it.

The ignition thing is not spinning. It got stuck in off this morning, and I don't know what to do, could you help me?

Tough to know what your issues are without seeing machine. The key may only go to lock when bars (steering) turned to certain points, or brake pulled on, you may also have to push in on key to get into lock. All bikes have different ways of safety features. When you tried starting with key in off you may have flooded motor so letting it sit for a while may cure that. If the key was left in position other than lock it may have now drained battery down. To get the machine to spin over with electric start you must have clutch lever pulled in, or brake pulled in if unit has auto clutch. If nothing else get key to on - roll down hill in low gear - pop clutch - to start manually.
(If no clutch lever then this will not work).

Hey Anon, Is this a total electronic key,,(push button start)..if so, its an electrical issue. If its a standard key urn ignition. try some DRY graphite on the key.. it will lubricate the switch without the mess of liquids... put the key in and out several times, put some more dry graphite on the key and repeat.. give this some time to work,, if this does not improve the switch.. its time for a new switch assy,

Hi, The_redneckc and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary your battery may show 12.5 volts or more but have little or zero amps and must be replaced.
2. Failed alternator/generator and or voltage regulator.
3. Loose or corroded battery terminals and or cables especially the "NEGATIVE" cable, look for loose, corroded, or broken connectors inside the cable harness at "BOTH" ends.
4. Failed main circuit breaker or ignition switch, check for loose connections and continuity.
5. Failed system and or ignition relay, check for continuity.
6. Failed ignition coil, ignition/electronic module.
7. Failed CKP, CPS, CMP, MAP, TPS, or BAS sensor, corroded, loose or broken wire connector pins/sockets.
8. Throttle cables and or idle speed improperly adjusted hot idle speed should be 950 RPM to 1000 RPM.
9. Fuel tank empty.
10. Fuel tank contaminated with ethanol sludge.
11. Water or dirt in the fuel system, or clogged filter.

My bike wont start

I have the same problem and same model (2008 KTM Adventure 990 S) so injection, not carburator.
I didn't start the engine for three months. I bought a brand new battery. Lights, fuel pump and everything seemed to be ok at the first key turn. But when you try to turn it even more to definitely start the engine, ignition fails. I think the electric engine of the starter is not working properly.
I tried to start the engine driving down the slope and releasing the clutch in 2nd gear at aprox 30 km/h and it started successfully.
I left it idle until became hot (15 min aprox) and the turned it off.
however it didn't start again when trying the ignition button.
Any ideas?
