Mountfield 2040h sit on wont start, fuel in Lines, sparkplugs working, airintake ok turns over without any firing, seems no fuel getting past carburetor?? Whats next

was it sitting unused with gas in it for a long time? Gas stabilizer added? If not, consider a carb re-build.

Doesn't start. get gas and fire.

Very little info to go on here. Remove the sparkplug and dump some gas down the plug hole. Re-install the sparkplug and crank her over. If it tries to start, then your problem is fuel. If it doesn't then it's electrical/mechanical.

STARTING PROBLEMS ?? For a gas engine to start basically you need two things..fuel delivery and good spark....remove the spark plug ...Is it wet with gas??IF YES good you have fuel going into the cylinder.BUTwhat about spark?..Put the plug back in Pull the plug wire use a wooden closepin to hold the wire real close to the top of the sparkplug and have someone pull thr cord you should see little sparks jumping from the metal connector on the end of the plug wire to the sparkplug if you have spark.. if you have both fuel and spark maybe you have bad gas??You could try shooting a little starting fluid[ether] into the sparkplug hole screw the plug back in and try starting again..Goodluck RW...

Car suddenly stated suddering and struggles to gain power

What year is the car? What kind of car. Is it gasoline powered or diesel? Is the car carburated or fuel injected? There are many possibilities from a clogged catalytic converter to water in your gasoline. If you've just purchased gas then there's a good chance there was water in it. Go to your local auto parts store and purchase a fuel line antifreeze product. If this doesn't work open your hood and check around the engine compartment for any vacuum hoses that may have come loose or may have holes in them. Maybe a sparkplug wire came off? Some newer cars have a coilpack connected to the sparkplug wire and they tend to go bad making the car seem like the engine has a hesitiation problem or a miss to it at idle.

Ran lumpy whilst cold then stopped. Won't start. Sparkplug good but is dry. Can smell fuel at the exhaust when engine is turned over...

Sparkplug good? gas at exhaust indicates unburt fuel.Try taking oof sparkplug wire and holding to ground metal (not Painted) on bike, do you see a spark?Dry plugs? all Plugs?Check , Coil, Lumpy sounds like dry cracked sparkplug wires. With all Combustion Engines it's either Gas or Spark investigate.Good Luck.

Cultvator is not starting as we pull start

I take it this is the first cranking this season. The most probable cause is stale fuel. Never ever store fuel in a small engine over the winter. Now, the bad fuel has most probably fouled the sparkplug, so you need both fresh fuel AND a NEW sparkplug.

Your carb is going to be gummed up, but if you'll get the high priced fuel with the "cleaners" (like Chevron with Techron) it may save you the trouble of disassembling the carb.
