Question about 1983 Suzuki GSX 1100 E

1 Answer

I Just bought a 1982 Suzuki GS1100GK with 29000 miles. The fuel was old so I replaced it with fresh non-oxygenated fuel and some sea foam engine cleaner. I ran it for about 17 miles. Now everytime I start the bike (Warm) It revs to 6000rpm like the throttle is stuck. The throttle is of course not stuck. Could this be some engine gunk stuck somewhere? This happened right in the middle of a ride. One minute it was fine, the next this. thanks. Mr Olson.

My 2010 Jeep Wrangler sport 3.8L engine constantly pings on acceleration or if there is any load on the engine. I think it has something to do with throttle body. Not sure what the issue is.

Try using a higher quality fuel use 93/91 and use the fuel for 2 tank fill's also add a bottle of sea-foam to the tank for the two times you filled with the higher quality fuel. Most likely it's the ethanol in the fuel slowly clogging you're injector's as well carbon build up. The sea-foam will help with this.

MTD lawn mower won't stay running.

Did you empty the carb bowl and clean out any old fuel & contaminants? This is the most effective way to determine fuel issues. It also gives you the opportunity to remove all old fuel from the fuel lines, filter, & drain the tank bone dry. You may have already introduced water from your previous efforts so take out the plug & pull the cord a few times to dry out the cylinder. Next start the first time with starter fluid since you may still have contaminants in the primer system. In the future use only non-ethanol fuel, a marine grade stabilizer such as "Sea Foam" and replace all fuel every spring. Fuel begins to varnish and break down after 1 month unless stabilizer is used. Ethanol gas absorb water from the surrounding air in about 2 months & only gets worse.

I have a 1996 Ariens ST-24 snowblower that is hard starting. When it does start it runs just fine. The Tecumseh engine has a primer and I run synthetic oil, 5W30 Mobil 1 and use non-oxy gas with Sea

You could have a hole you cant see in the primer or line to the carb. They vibrate and rub. Make sure you DONT use eco gas. This will turn your gaskets to trash in one summer of not using it. Lastly dump out the old gas and start with new. Snow blowers are famous for condensation building in the tank. Hope I helped

Getting random misfires. replaced fuel filter, plugs and wires. tried sea foam to rule out bad gas and clean injectors. idle is fine, only happens during acceleration. also is running a bit hotter than...

Non of what you replaced was necessary, or had
anything to with the misfire

How about a worn out & partially clogged exhaust converter
Old Thermostat partially closed
Clogged Radiator
Old Upstream Oxygen Sensors
Vacuum Leaks in the intake or exhaust before the converter
Egr System issues

Have you checked for codes
Have you checked misfire counts
Have you checked fuel pressure
Have you checked fuel short term fuel trim

5.3 liter Chevy engine #1 Cylinder not firing at idle

My opinion...

Year? Miles?

There's no way I'd dive into a "HEAD GASKET"
diagnosis without pressure testing the cooling
system and (wet/dry) COMPRESSION testing
the whole engine...

Even if it is a "HEAD GASKET"... the entire engine
might be ready for a REFRESH... and tossing a new
Head gasket into a TIRED ENGINE not insubstantial
(a lot of wasted time & money)...

Come back with some compression numbers...

but don't bother with any of this if your engine oil has water in it.

(in my opinion)

I just replaced my batt after not useing the car for 9 months and the car wont start

How much gas is in the tank? Is the gas old? If you only have a few gallons in the tank i would advise you to put 5 gals of fresh gas and a bottle of sea foam gas addititve.. if you gas is old it starts to turn to varnish and gets sticky, it smells really bad too.Go to auto zone or wal mart to get the sea foam and add it to a five gallon gas can then add your fresh gas into you car tank..You can also get the sea foam in a spraycan form that you can spray directly into your air intake..Can you hear if the fuel pump is running? Take your gas cap off and put your ear up to the filler tube to see if you can hear you fuel pump working, it sounds like a high pitch whinning sound..Have someone turn the key on while you listen for it..

Trying to start up it turns over fine everytime but 2 times out of 10 it will just keep turning over but not kick in

Has the bike been in storage for awhile for winter? If so was fuel stabilzer used. If not the gas is probably bad. Add 2 ounces of sea foam for every gallon of gas and introduce as much freah fuel as you can to the tank. Take it out and replace every gallon burned with a fresh gallon with 2 ounces of sea foam until the old gas has run through. You may get a lite blue cloud on start up but this is normal with the sea foam, its cleaning out the junk in the fuel system and engine. Hope this helps.

2006 hammer turns over won,t start. new plugs good spark recent new fuelpump. been stood for a few months help..

Did you use fuel stabilzer when you stored the bike? If not your fuel is probably bad. You will have to drain the old fuel and introduce fresh fuel. Use 2 ounces of sea foam to every gallon of fuel. This will help get out any junk from the old fuel. You may get a light puff of blue smoke when starting the bike while the sea foam is onboard but this is normal.

sounds like he was right! it needs a tune up!...change plugs and wires replace old air filter and FUEL filter,... put in fresh gas along with some Sea foam from Autzone pour in 1/3 can to two gallons fuel and then push start the bike if you have to and get on it and ride ...it might take about 10-15 miles before you'll notice a difference.
