Sounds like the starter motor is OK - but - the starter bendix (drive) might be cooked. The bendix is a clutch that is built onto the output gear of the starter that prevents the starter motor from being over-spun when the engine starts. I am going to say you need a new starter bendix (some folks call it a starter drive). I am not sure if they are available seperately - I usually replace the entire starter. This is a common problem with these bikes, by the way.

Step 1:

Operate Trim Switch Do You Hear Clicking Sound In Engine
Yes ,No

Step 2:

If Yes Check Wiring To Power Trim Motor are All Cables Tight
If No Then The Trim Relay And Or Trim Switch Is Probably At Fault

Step 3:

,Remove Three Large Color Wires Going To Power Trim Motor Black, Blue And GreenConnect Black Direct To Negative Battery And Blue To Positive Battery Motor Should Trim Up ,Remove Blue Then Try Green To Positive Battery, Motor Should Trim Down ,If Nothing Then Trim Motor Is At Fault If Works Then Trim Relay/s Are At Fault

I have a perko battery switch on my boat. The boat has always run flawlessly. Yesterday I developed a problem with my starter and trim/tilt motors. I have verified its not a motor problem. When attempting...

I would bet that this is a ground problem since the Perko switches very rarely fail. You can easily check this by simply jumping out the switch. Temporarily remove one cable from the battery switch and bolt it onto the same stud as the other to eliminate the switch. If the problem remains the same, then it will be something other than the switch (like grounds). If the problem goes away, change that switch for a new one!

My 1978 140 evinrude electric trim tilt motor working but wont lift or lower happend suddenly after it lifted.maybe the pump?

First make sure you are not in transit mode. Some outboards have a lever which keeps the motor tilted for trailering. You should have a fuse for the tilt motor, check that. If the pump is turning and it sounds like it is whining you are pushing air and either lost your hydraulic fluid or have an air bubble in the system. Check your fluid reservoir.

Volvo-penta aq271c, trim will go down, but not up.no pwr at relay

First check the switch-- does it have power, then check the solenoid to see if it works-- there are two. One is for down, One is for up. If you get power from the solenoid-- outgoing-- check connections going to pump motor.
