Question about 2001 Yamaha WR 426 F

1 Answer

I have a 2001 wr426. It has started fine since i got it 4 months ago. I didn't ride it for about 2 weeks and when I went to go and start it it was like it had lost compression? You can actually pull the kick starter down with your hand without holding the decomp in.

Sounds like a valve has stuck in the open position, or it needs the shims checked, also check the decomp cable is not holding the decomp lever open .
A push start might even free up the valve, if it does use an upper cylnder lube like moreys.
but the shim clearances are critical

Yamaha YBR Custom 125 won't start after sitting idle for 4 weeks. Blockage in fuel pipe?

Fuel does "go off" but it won't happen in just 4 weeks. But, the battery will lose some of its charge in that time. Charge the battery and try again. Good luck.

Electrical Issue

Had the same problem. I had to remove battery, take apart the battery terminals, sand them a little, then put it all back together. Make sure the screw on the front of the terminal holding the inner bar in place if very tight. Have had no problem ever sense. Good luck.

I own an '01 S-Type and have had to many problems to list, however 3 months ago mine started riding rough, the check engine light actually started blinking and it shook pretty bad especially at stop lights (although it didn't shut off) I drove it straight to the shop and they said it was a bad ignition coil (coil #4) - $135 total and it ran fine. 2 months later coil #5 went. I was advised that if you take it to the dealer they will replace all 6 ignition coils at once charging you over $1,000. They are only about $60 a part stores. Good Luck I'm getting rid of my Jag this week! What a pain in the neck beauty!

If i stop or let idle i feels like its being starved for fuel.. turn off the engine and start it again it runs fine till i stop again. Just replaced the fuel pump a week ago and has been running fine.

Mine did that to me about 4 months ago. I started by changing the fuel filter it ran great for a month. but by doing that it released all the pressure off of the fuel pump which then went out. If you run your vehicle below 1/4 tank it starves the fuel pump. The pump needs that fuel because; The fuel is the lubrication for the pump. Running your tank down consistently over a period of time will short the pump out faster.
