To remove the drive pulley off the final drive gear of the transmission you must have a special deep well socket Harley part number, HD-94660-37A. The threads in the nut are LEFT HANDED. Torque is 150-165 foot pounds. You'll also need a drive pulley locking device or some way to lock the transmission so that you can get the nut off and back on. Jim's makes a special tool for this that works very nicely. I think Harley has come out with an upgraded pulley to prevent the splines from wearing so badly in the center of the pulley. Check the splines in your pulley for wear.

Good Luck

Can't figure out how to drain the oil on my 1988 fx. The oil filter is fwd of the rear tire on the bottom. I removed it and the normal amount of oil was in it but no more came out. I've looked it over and...

The only FX model that I can think of that the oil filter was in front of the rear tire is an FXR. On the FXR, the oil tank is under the seat. If this is the case, the oil drain is behind one of the side panels. Seems like it's behind the right side panel as best as I can remember. I don't change much oil anymore as most of the poeple that I work on their bikes change their own. I do the more complicated work but seems like I'm right on this. Anyway, the drain is behind one of the side panels and the electrics is under the other.

Good Luck

Will a larger rear tire on my 2003 road king fit.any modifacations required.

About the largest you want to go without any modifications...and it can be a tight squeeze is a 140/ or a MU- . You can purchase for upto a couple of grand after market wide tire kits to run like a 180. I may be wrong but I do not think Harley offers a Wide Tire Installation Kit
for your bike any longer. hope this helps,

XLH frame, want to put wide tire kit on ?

Wide tire kits can be added to this frame but you will need to run an extended drive sprocket and altered sprocket cover, or a jack shaft drive system to do it. In my opinion it's more trouble than its worth.
