Acording to my service manuals covering four models from 1991 to 2003, they don't have a "Safety Switch" only a clutch and stand switch.

What does the Therm-O_Disc that's on the motor of my Kenmore Elite washer do

The limit switch is a temperature activated overload switch. When the motor over heats, the switch opens to turn off the motor. A few minutes later, after the motor cools off some, the switch closes to restart the motor. If the motor over heats again, the switch opens again to shut off the motor again. This process can repeat itself over and over again until eventually the motor will burn itself out.

How to Hot-Wire Test a Cordless Drill Motor

The power switch may not be the problem if a cordless drill stops turning on. Sometimes a bad drill motor can prevent the tool from starting, even if the switch is good.
To determine the problem, the best method is to remove the switch and then hot-wire the drill motor to the drill's rechargeable battery to test it. How do you check to see if a neutral satey switch is bad before buying a new one. It is about 70 dollars and if thats not it, thats money wasted

Part of knowing if it is bad is by the symptoms that the car is experiencing, i.e. not starting in PARK, Not shifting properly, Reverse Lamps not working or staying on all the time, Gearshift Indicator not displaying the correct gear, etc. The other part is to test the offending circuit to see if the voltage is going to and from the switch as it is supposed to. (There are several circuits controlled by this switch. They usually do not all fail at the same time, although this is possible.)

You have a starter relay which is grounded thru the neutral safety switch and also thru your computer. The neutral satey switch is located at the front lower edge of the trans and is subect to damage and corosion. the relays are generally pretty good but I have seen problems with the computers. Lee

The dryer runs without the start switch being used.

Good day,
The dryer start switch, starts the motor by bypassing the centrifugal
switch built into the motor. Once the motor is running, releasing the switch doesn't matter because the motor gets it's power directly from the timer to the motor thru the centrifugal switch.

Either the switch on the consul has welded the contacts, or the centrifugal switch in the motor has done the same.

To test, unplug, and access the start switch. remove one of the wires from the switch, tape it to prevent shorting, and try the dryer. If it fails to start, then it is the switch.
If it still does the same thing as before, it is the centrifugal switch in the motor.
