At least one carb is flooding badly and will need a clean, but the vacumn fuel tap is also leaking or it is in the prime position.

also possible fuel cap is not venting and pressure building up in tank forcing petrol through fuel tap into carbs and engine , remove plastic inners from fuel cap to fix , had same problem with zephyr 750 , twice had to take bike home on trailer due to engine full of petrol and petrol running out of exhaust..

On my 1979 kawasaki z400 the throttle side header pipe glows red if left to tickover can not find blockage in carb or air leak but the fuel tap will only work on the pri position is this my problem not...

No, it is more likely a bent exhaust valve or burned. The fuel flow position may indicate an additional issue with the carb, but the exhaust should not glow red like that- when it does it means there is unburned fuel and burning combustion gasses entering the pipe.

If the bike is hard to start, this can be why as well. Do a static compression test to see if the valves are leaking.

On a kawasaki zephyr 750 set of carbs, where do the two hoses that come from between carbs one and two and three and four go( not the vacuum hoses, or fuel hose. Are these the heater hoses?

They are fuel overflow hoses, and just hang down under the engine. If they are not vacume or fuel lines, then they must be the overflow pipes, one from each carby.

I inherited a 2004 BN125 that now leaks gas when started from tube that is located next to battery overflow tube

If overflow tube is leaking its due to too much fuel in petrol tank or could be a loose fuel pipe make sure its an overflow pipe not a fuel pipe just leaking

If your bike has a cable hooked to the tach and not electric then unscrew the cable and take out the inner cable from outer housing and lube it before reinstalling...a dry cable will do just what you are understand the cable will only pull out from one end..usually the connection at the engine....Good Luck to you friend....Tim
