Hi,,does the sound increase with revs?

  • philip_lofto Mar 23, 2011

really sounds like valves to me. the sound stays with rpm. i read a question here that was about timing chain- said sound goes away with rpm? also makes less noise when cold- so that makes me think valves again. thoughts? also any links to download husky 99 te410 manuals would be awesome.

If the ticking is coming from the top of the engine, then that means its your valves that need to be adjusted.

Top gas cooking range continues to make the ticking sound ( tick-tick-tick) even when all burners are off. There is sparking at all the burners too with the sound, I have removed the electrical plug f

This seems like the burner control valves are not functioning properly. The rear is still working properly so without knowing brand I would say the control valves are defective.

Could be a noisy valve or an electrical short in one of the HT leads or coil pack which you should be able to see sparking

Whats the ticking sound all of a sudden?

It sounds like a collapsed hydraulic valve lifter- a part of yoiur valve train in the upper engine. You need to have it checked at a shop you trust I don't know of any oil additives that can cure this, although someone here may give you some advice.
Loose valve train noise is common on high-mileage engines, but if it is a collapsed lifter, I think you should have it checked.
A loose timing chain will make a rhythmic slapping sound, but the ticking you describe sounds more like it's in your valve train. Have someone check it.

Motor makes a pecking sound at 2000 rpm only under a load.does not do it while reving parked

Noise out of the engine. Noisy valves? Low oil level? Is the sound like tick, tick, tick, tick......that's how bad valves sound. I don't know if you have solid lifters those have to be adjusted after some mileage. Hydraulic ones are self adjusting. Only a good mechanic can tell for sure.

Noise coming from between valve cover and intake manifold..A rapid ticking that fluctuates with rpm.. Only means of transportation and need to fix yesterday...can anyone help?

sounds like a valve out of adjustment im not completly sure what type of valve system this car has, most of the time if you have a ticking or knocking noise from the top side its in the rocker arm being too loose and its knocking around as it pumpes back and forth...
i would need a little more info from you such as what car, year and engine ...

Can you hear when valves need adjusting on 1997 shadow spirit? Can it hurt the bike if you ride it with out adjusting valves? I hear a "ticking" at medium to high RPM. Not sure if it is valve or something...

If the ticking sound speeds up when you throttle up more than likely its the valve you are hearing.
If your valve need adjusting and you continue to ride it you have a greater chance of burning the valve out or floating a valve at higher RPMS.
