can you tell me were i should check at for the fuse at.and how do i check to see if it is my kill switch or a abraded wire please thanks!

  • tombones Mar 23, 2011

The fuse panel will be next to the battery. You will need a multimeter. Radio Shack has cheap ones, $10 to $15 and that is all you need for what you are doing. THEY CAN SHOW YOU HOW TO USE IT TO CHECK FOR CONTINUITY. Tell them you want to check the operation of a switch and check fuses. It will take you about 30 seconds to learn how to use it. As to the abraded wire, look for it. Follow the kill switch wires looking for abrasions, places where the wire insulation has been scraped or worn off allowing the copper wire to ground out against the frame. When you were checking for spark, you did push the metal side of the plug against the cylinder head didn't you? The metal side of the plug must be grounded to the head or you will never see a spark.

yea i did and you know that this is a 1999 rm125 right?

  • tombones Mar 24, 2011

Yes, I knew what bike you have. So did you see spark? Is the bike running now? What did you find with the meter? Told ya you would learn to use the meter in about 30 seconds... Would you take a moment and rate my answer? Thanks!

1999 Suzuki RM 125 no spark

Hi, Tyler and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
5. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting/leaking, spark plug cable connections loose check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Faulty ignition coil or electronic control module.
7. Faulty pulse coil.
8. Faulty CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
9. Faulty ignition switch.
10. Faulty run/off switch
11. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
12. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset

WHY IS MY SUZUKI RM125 MOTERCROSS BIKE SPITING AND SPUTERING WHILE TRY TO GAIN SPEED THROUGH THE GEARS

I would check your spark plug to see if fouled, if so clean with wire brush and carburetor cleaner or replace plug. You think it is possible the fuel mix got higher than 40 to 1? If mix is too high it can cause the bike to run lean.Usually if mix is off you will have some blueish grey smoke coming out of exhaust.

My 1999 V star 650 runs great and throttles in neutral but, Get it on the street and go over a quarter throttle and it boggs. BLAP BALP BLAP!

Sounds like fuel filter problem, or bad gas which will cause fuel filter problems. Bad fuel will also carbon up the spark plugs and cause the engine to run erratically. Take a look at the plugs, they'll probably tell the tail.

Do not dress the spark plug wires to make them look pretty. The spark plug wires on must cross each other at right angles every place they cross. They cannot be run side by side, or the engine will crossfire.
