That sounds like the float chamber fuel height is incorrect and spilling over. Could be caused by a worn float valve or a punchered float etc.

59 reg Mondeo 2ltr petrol hesitates on light excelleration when engine is warm fine when choke is on , otherwise car runs fine any ideas ?

check all the breather pipes around the intake check for air leaks, failing that and there are no leaks take the air intake pipe off and check to see that its clean and you should see a pin hole in the butter valve on the top. if fine just give it a clean with some carb cleaner and get any black rings out and soot off it so it like new, put back together. failing that and still the same then it might be a air leak from the gasket to the engine you can check this with the carb cleaner run the engine and spray over the manifold and listen for the engine pitch to change or cut out if it cuts out it's definitely were the problem is, you can use this to find an air leak in pipes as well.

My 1992 nissan terrano blows to much black smoke .how to fix this .some say i have unbirt fuel?

if diesel and turbo , check turbo operation of for holes in the intercooler
if turbo or naturally aspirated check/ replace injector tips as black smoke indicators squirting and not atomizing
if petrol check for excessive fuel pressure, faulty injectors , leaking injector seal
regardless of petrol or diesel --black smoke indicates incorrect air / fuel ratio ( too much fuel) so injectors, intercooler, bad turbo or blocked air cleaner are all candidates for the fault

If petrol leaking from bottom of air intake if air intake is connected

99 4 runner v6 The engine pulsates at idle and during acceleration ,It goes up and down about 100 RPM and you can feel it under acceleration. what could be the cause?

If this a petrol engine, you have an air leak some where on the intake manifold. Test with soapy water and a paint brush whilst engine is running at idle. check all connections to the manifold and when soapy water gets sucked away, you have identified your leak. Start with the air cleaner and work along system back to the manifold.

I have a bmw 316i i have 30 to 40 miles worth of petrol inside the petrol tank and the car rev metre goes up and down and cars engine shuts down completely and it wont start untill it has quarter of a tank...

That sounds like the petrol pickup pipe in the tank has an air leak and when the fuel is dropping down below the leak it is sucking in more air than petrol.
The most likely cause of that is either the gauge sender untit or the fuel pump itself leaking (if the fuel pump on that car is inside the tank).

Trouble starting

you may have an air leak in the petrol line, probably where the fuel pump was changed.
the car won't srpay out petrol some time's but overnight the vacum in the fuel line ****'s air in & the system is not primed.
The only way you can check this is by priming the rail first thing in the morning by turning the ignition key to the point just before starting & you should hear the fuel pump run for about 4 second's then turn off the ignotion, wait for a few sec's & turn the key to same position, it will prime again.
Do that a few times & check for petrol leak's as the fuel will run back to the tank via a pressure valve, If you see a leak then you've found where the air is getting back in if there is no leaking but the engine start's then you will have to go over all the hose clip's in the petrol system.
If not that then get back to me !

1994 Kawasaki ZZR-400 Leaks oil and doesnt start sometimes.

that box is called the air box, its where you engine breathes in its air. you say its leaking oil? these boxes are normally a bit oily but only really surface oil. If you can actually see liquid oil you have a problem with your petrol shut off. When the bike isnt running petrol will leak into the engine through the piston. When you start the bike all the petrol mixed with the engine oil will be pumped back into the air box. also check the level of the engine oil, if too much has been put in there then that can also be pumped back into the air box. If the petrol and oil has been mixing you must change the oil as petrol thins the oil and your bike could catch fire, the engine wear will be really bad.
