Question about 1995 Yamaha FZR 600

1 Answer

Cleaning the carbs on a '96 fzr 600 that hasn't run in two years. Any advice? I'm no stranger to motorcycles or maintaining them but this is the first times i've tackled these carbs. I have removed them from the bike already.

Write note on where the air screws are adjusted before pulling them out.
If you see something you may confuse later take a photo, like vacumn hoses, overflow hoses, fuel hose.
The slides may look a little worn, this is usually not a problem, apart for obvious cracks, then its replace all four
dont touch the adjustable syncronizing screws, that lift all the slides together.
dont mix parts between carbs.
When putting them back on
Check the inlet rubbers and install them tight
Make certain the throttle snaps all the way back before starting the bike.
And of course work in a clean area, and remember its fuel and will burn when it can, so no ignition sources.

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel cap or fuel tank is not venting properly.
2. Fuel filter clogged.
3. Fuel line pinched or kinked.
4. Float needle and seat sticking.
5. Float level too low.
6. Carburetor bowl vent line clogged/blocked/pinched.
7. Idle adjusting ***** set too low.
8. Air/fuel mixture ***** set too lean.
9. Idle port, transfer ports, slow air jet clogged.
10. Slow fuel jet clogged.

1991 Yamaha FZR 600 carb

Hi, Anonymous for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your problem. I have a 95 Yamaha fzr 600 where would I be able to find a power commander for the model of my bike

Power commanders are only for injected bikes...
1995 FZR 600 has 4 cvk34 carbs...therefore what you would need is a dynajet kit.

1991 fzr 600. bike sat for 3 years and i got it runnung but it will only run on choke. as soon as i try to take the choke off it dies. everything was cleaned out but still having a problem

As the bike was not used for years, the jets in the carb may be clogged or rusted. Please replace the jets. These jets can only be forced by choke to let fuel go and not otherwise. Changing them will rectify the problem.

Bike sat for awhile, runs but doesnt idle very good. cuts out

I would remove and clean the sparkplugs - sounds like one may be fouled.
