Question about kawasaki KR-1R Motorcycles

1 Answer

I purchased a 1987 kawasaki kd 80 cc dirt bike for my 11 year old son. It is a 2 stroke. Being a single mom and new to all of this, I made the mistake of using regular grade fuel (yes, i mixed it with the oil) rather than using premium fuel. Now it backfires when my son tries to crank the bike. I was told to drain the gas tank and put in a new filter (fuel?). Can you tell me (my son is going to do it, I will assist as needed) exactly how to drain the fuel, including a detailed description of location and any other helpful details to help us drain the tank, as well as change the filter. Also a detailed description of tools needed would be helpful (I will need to purchase them most likely). I hope this is not asking too much, and we would be very grateful for your help and assistance. It should be a good learning experience for us both.

I'm not 100% familiar with that model but if you lift the seat there is probably only 1 bolt holding the back of the tank down and the front is friction fit. after the tank is up you will see the fuel line, the filter if there is one will be in line and can be changed with either pliers or a flat screwdriver depending on the type of clamp. unhook the line and simply pour the fuel out the fill opening.

Ok I have a 2004 kawasaki klx125 dirt bike. It was ran on mixed fuel. Will this mess or blow or cease the bike if continued to run on this

Hi, James it won't hurt anything, probably smoke a lot and may oil foul a spark plug, why not just drain it and replace with straight gas if your that concerned for more information about your question and valuable "FREE" downloads that you will need please click on the blue links below. I have a Kawasaki dirt bike it's a 125two stroke what are the specks' on it.

Depends on what year, great little bike power grade is like just below a 250 4stroke and very light if it's racing your doing, Honda or kawi's probably the best two strokes

I just bought a kawasaki kd 80 and i cant figure out the year, how do i find this. i have the vin number i believe.

http://www.analogx.com/contents/vinview.htm

Check out this web site, they can decode any vin number, i ran my bikes through there, no problem , came right up. All vin numbers carry the same code, the 10th digit is the year, it might be in code, might not. Check it out, hope this helps.
