What does the manufacture say to use? if they say to use it there must be a reason. It won;t hurt to try a lower octane but listen carefully for engine knock, if you hear it get back to the highere octane fuel. stokes make it real hard to hear the knock but the performance will be deminished. I personally use the higher octane when ever I can get it but I use mid grade and if only regular is available I use it with no problem.

Hi, I have a 2009 Husqvarna TE 250, spec states the engine as 12.9:1 compression ratio. The question I have, is what octane fuel rating is recommended for this bike? Thanks, Rob

91 or 95 octane is suitable for 9.5-10.5 ratios ( most engines)
for 12.9 you will find that it runs best on 98 octane
it may be good on 95 octane but generally the higher the compression ratio the higher octane rating
discuss the octane rating required with the bike service agent/service center

I accidently put super unleaded gas.on my VW beetle 2002

That is not a problem it is actually recommended that you use premium 93-94 Octane fuel, if you put turbo blue (115) in it that would be a problem but 93-94 octane is the VW recommended fuel type.

Does the 09 es350 need 93 octane gas or will it run on 87 octane

you should have a factory affixed sticker inside gas compartment cover listing premium fuel only or also listed in your owners manual. Otherwise if you notice that you're vehicle is making a pinging sound while accelerating or climbing a hill for instance then you may want to step up to 89 or 93 octane and try to avoid purchasing fuel with ethanol added it's **** and degrades your fuel quality/octane ratio

Just bought a 1986 Yamaha Fazer and I want to know what octane gas to use....

The owner's manual says to use premium fuel with an octane rating of 91. No matter what, use the highest and most expensive fuel available in your area. Your bike uses minimal fuel, so use the best that you can get.

What is the highest octaine gas that is safe for my CBR. in my area you can buy pump gas with high ratings, and i dont want to damage my bike.

I've used Vp racing fuels 100 octane in my 88 CBR 600 f1 Hurricane.. only because i ran out of gas at the track when i was racing, but at $8 dollars a gallon, I'll bring my own next time..! and i didn't notice a thing, but i do notice a major difference when i use 87 as opposed to 91 which my bikes frame info says use only 91 or higher octane only! i could have also used 110 octane right next to it but it cost even more...look racing fuel at tracks are mainly for low compression race engine that will have turbocharged engines in them eg 9:1 ratio 110 octane 10:1 100 octane 11:1 95 octane 12:1 91 octane. higher octanes in a higher compression ratio will sometimes make it difficult to start so dont go real high!

I would like to know the recommended fuel octane for my 1982 Honda VF750 S Sabre. I don't have the owner's manual and this information is not in the Clymer Service Manual. I am bringing the old bike back...

You are correct; the (minimum) recommended fuel octane rating for your bike is 91. In fact, this applies to nearly every Honda motorcycle that I can think of. Back in the 60's and 70's, Honda used to recommend an octane rating of 95 - or higher.

Getting better gas milage....

Hey there, well if its anything like mine(91 cressy) its pretty thirsty! but things worth checking(if u havnt already) are the engine timing, fuel filter, air filter, as they will make a huge differnce. still im getting 11L per 100 around town, and i dont exactly flog it. and about the octane, i realy wouldnt worry too much if its just the non turbo version, although sticking to 91octane or above is always a good idea. usually only costs a few extra dollars a tank for 98 octane here in Australia, so i think its worth it.

Cheers
