Disconnect a positive wire going to one of the coils and put a paper clip in it,put it on metal and crank the bike to see if it sparks, we can then go on from there.

Motorcycles Not getting spark from back 2 plugs

Sounds like you have power to the coil, but the coil is faulty and not producing a spark.

Remove the coils. Put power to it, you should get a spark when you remove the negative lead.

Motorcycle wont start e.c.u ok turning over on the battery petrol getting to the carbs no spark on the plugs.

Well, did you check your CPS? (Crank position sensor), do you have power coming into the coils? With out the impulse from the CPS, to tell the ECU to send the power to the coils...It ain't gonna start.

My bike will not start, it sounds like it doesnt even want to start i have just replaced the spark plug last week due to the same problem and it started first kick

Firstly check that you have a spark at the plug gap and if so is the plug wet with fuel ?If so on both counts try rubbing a pencil lead on the plugs gap ,this may sound daft but the lead from the pencil increases your sparks power five times .But only use this idea when bike fails to fire .if problem carries on check your air cleaner unit ,and if dirty change it .

Starts missing at high rpms, like a bad spark

there is possibly a rev limiter( governer) at the upper end, which will drop one or two cylnders

I have changed the spark plug and coil and it looks as though there is no electric getting to the spark plug. the bike doesnt run. i was wondering if anyone could help0

hi try putting power direct to the coil and turn the engine over and see if theres a spark. you may have a faulty ignition or stop switch and is not sending power to the coil when ignition is on. pete

Hi i have a good spark on all cylinders and carbs are all set correctly but as you sit on bike and look down left hand cylinder is not fireing and keeps flooding

Just because a spark plug fires outside the motor doesnt mean its firing under compression. Start by making sure you have new spark plugs. If that doesnt help then do a compression test on all cylinders and compare.

03 CRF450 R push starts and runs, will not kick start.

the bike might have to much oil in the bike so when you try to kickstart it, it sends oil to the piston and soaks the spark plug in oil. But when you push start it the spark plug is going alot so it catches, just kicking it doesnt give enough spark tho. my bike doesnt the same and then somtimes i have to take the spark plug out and clean it with a wire brush then usually its fine. Or you could have the wrong oil in the bike, i would read the maunal to find the perfered oil. hope this helps

Without CKP sensor, will a bike start? if there is no firing in the spark plug, what are the reason of this?

Without a fully operational Crank Position Sensor a bike will not start. The CKP sends a signal to the bikes ECU (also known as CDI, this is the bikes "computer") telling it that the pistons are in the correct place and the spark plug needs to fire. The ECU processes this information and sends a signal to the Ignition Coils, this then causes the spark plugs to fire. Without the CKP sensor the ECU doesnt know when to tell the coils to fire the plugs.

If you are not getting any spark either:
1. HT leads or spark plugs are faulty.
2. Coils are faulty, use a multimeter to check the resistance across the primary and secondary windings. Should be (from memory) around 3000ohms for primary and 30,000ohms for secondary.
3. CKP sensor is faulty. Use a multimeter to check the resistance of the coil windings. From memory should be about 300 - 500 ohms.
4. A wire is shorting out somewhere, or there is a bad ground conection.
5. If none of these is faulty then your ECU is probably the culprit. Sadly the only way to test an ECU is by swapping it out with a known good one.
