Sounds like a carb problem(running lean/not getting enough fuel) and or your valve clearances need attention.

flat battery?not charging ,fuse ? have you tried bump starting? if you have igniton lights it should have enough charge to start the engine,if you get running, get it in neutral & let tick over for a short while then switch off, then try start, if clicking still occures then replace battery.

2006 Yamaha V Star 1100 Silverado the starter motor is working but the bike won't turn over

Hi, Anonymous your starter motor is not/was not the problem that dubious title goes to the starter drive/Bendix/clutch which is a separate component that is activated by the starter motor it is a mechanical gear driven part that engages the clutch pack to turn over the engine. It has an internal mechanism that allows the gear to turn in one direction and once the engine starts allows the drive gear to free spin. If gear free spins in both directions then the drive gear has failed, it is not serviceable and needs to be replaced. 2000 Yamaha V star Classic 1100; Once it warms up, tends to backfire a bit and overrevs in low gear (very high idle). What should be the cause of the high idle.

The idle is set too high. Check on the left side of the engine, about mid point of the jugs "V", you should see a knob near the middle. Turn it R/L until the idle lowers. (slowly!) (only AFTER it has warmed up.
