you should have volts with key on at the pump but it only will show 12 volts for a few seconds as the relay will only stay energized when cranking so if you have 12 volts and fuel pump still does not run check the ground if the pump is good and you have a ground and you have 12 volts pump should work make sure the connector on the sending unit is not corroded or burnt

2003 s10 blazer cranks no start . when I was trying to test the crank sensor signal wire I found 10 volts present with ignition on not cranking. the ground wire has 12.5 with the key off and 12.21 volts...

Will a scan tool communicate with it or on the screen does it say NO COMM ! That's how you test a PCM/ECM . If no comm ,check power an ground's ,that's it .
Why were you messing with the crank sensor ? If the fuel pump primes for two seconds there is nothing wrong with it . When cranking the engine the PCM/ECM will only energize the fuel pump if it see's an input from the crank sensor ! You will not see 12 volts on the crank sensor signal return wire ! Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor
The CKP sensor is a three wire sensor based on the magneto resistive principle. A magneto resistive sensor uses two magnetic pickups between a permanent magnet. As an element such as a reluctor wheel passes the magnets the resulting change in the magnetic field is used by the sensor electronics to produce a digital output pulse. The PCM supplies a 12-volt, low reference, and signal circuit to the CKP sensor. The sensor returns a digital ON/OFF pulse 3 times per crankshaft revolution for the V6 engine, 4 times for the V8 engine. The CKP sensor reads the crankshaft mounted reluctor wheel to identify pairs of cylinders at top dead center (TDC).

How do you check to see if you 12 volts at the fuel

Go under the truck and reach up and release the latch for the fuel pump connector and gently remove the connector, then with a 12 volt probe test light (avail from any auto parts store for $4) hooked up probe the fuel pump connector wires as someone turns the key on and then off repeatedly, one of the wires will light the test light and then after a second the test light will go off or have a friend crank the engine like you are attempting to start it and the light will stay lighted in the test light handle as long as the engine is being cranked over. I think you will likely find that the fuel pump is the problem and not the 12 volts supply circuit to it.

2005 Suzuki boulevard c50t.......Fuel pump will not start when key is turned on....checked fuses and they are good . Is there another fuse for just the fuel pump somewhere?

i have same problem and tested all the way to the pump it turns out that it is the fuel pump regulator. the regulator is attached to the pump directly and it sticks. unfortunatly you can't replace just the regulator have to replace the whole pump which is in the tank

How to check electrical problems whit the fuel pump

first turn the key on and listen for the fuel pump to come on for 15 sec.this is to prime the system before you crank the engine.no sound, with only a rubber mallet( no metal hammers )hit the bottom of the gas tank,no fuel pump operating go to the fuel pump relay and remove then test for (2) 12 volt power supplies with key on,if ok check ground at relay if okay remove gas from tank and drop gas tank to check for voltage at pump.replace pump if 12 volts is present.

2006 C50T fuel pump

If anything is gummed up ... it would be injectors (if appropriate) or carb. I think id concentrate on cleaning the carb. Get fresh gas in the tank if you didnt already. Dont burn the starter up! Maybe shoot a little raw gas into the spart plug hole ... replace the plug ... see what happens.

Let me know how you make out please.

Fuel pump replace /swap out and voltge testing

the only time you have 12 vdc is when u crank the engine. Maybe the fuel pump relay is faulty the coil for the relay is not strong enough to hold the contacts, try swapping or changing a new relay,

1990 DEVILLE. Posted 6-14. New BCM, new fuel pump, new relay, still no fuel. Have tested wires, I get a brief 12 volts to grey wire on connector to fuel pump when key is turned on, then nothing. I can hear...

That is correct for initial prime, then fuel pump works off of crank sensor.Fuel pump is ussually controlled through ECM not Bcm.Have you checked for fuel preasure when you first turn on key,

CRANKING BUT DELAYED STARTING

Test for proper fuel pressure with a test gauge on the fuel rail, most throttle body injection cars (TBI) are between 13 psi and 17 psi. and most (DPI) direct port inject systems are between 40 psi and 55 psi. If no or little fuel pressure is observed and there is 12 volt power present at the fuel pump, the fuel pump has failed and needs replacing.
