Question about 1984 Honda VF 500 F

Hi I just became owner of this bike got it running went for ride be when i came back to stop the clutch wouldnt release .. Is their any adjustment for it or not??

Check your cable it just might of slipped out of a hold down clamp! also check to see if it the cable is broke, if its neither one then the the pushrod release assembly probably broke! or if you take the cover off of the clutch assembly the pin and springs assemblies could have fallin apart!

I would suggest getting the manual, service manual and joining a shadow group online. Others may HAVE HAD SIMILAR INSTANCES and can advise. I DO know some bikes have wet sump clutches. Oil may be shared and if an oil change wasn't done in years it would get yukky and sludgy like mud. I would gather a good cleaning, with solvents and then refil- may be required. you could let it run, get real hot, then drain the oil, then open the clutch cover to drain it, then clean it good- with marvel mystery oil or kersone. You maybe even need a clutch but not definitely, it may need clean and dry and reoil.
Just don't panic or give up. Bike looks real nice.

Jialing JH 125 clutch will not engage


Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Clutch cable adjusted too tight.
2. Pressure plate center screw adjusted too tight
3. A broken clutch rod.
4. Slave cylinder piston stuck.
5. Clutch plate missing from the clutch pack.
6. Clutch plates have worn past minimum specifications.
7. Clutch plates crystallized due to incompatible oil.

How do you adjust a clutch on a yamaha gt 100 motorbike this bike has been in storage for a few years. We just got it back running but at first the clutch wouldnt work at all the we took the cover off the...


Since the bike was stord for a long time the clutch plates have siezed kinda on the plates, all you have to do is put your bike on the main stand and thn select a gear and press the clutch lever and one turns the rear wheel ..this might help to release the plates.
If its tough to turn the rear wheel by hand thn try pushing the bike exrating pressure to the rear side so tht the wheel can get maximum contact to the ground.
This works for my bike XJ750R 1981.
Hope this helps!, or else you will have to remove the clutch basket and clean and refit.

Clutch problem


I don't know that adjusting the clutch is going to solve your problem, but the adjustment is found on the lever on the handlebars. There is a thumb screw that the cable sits in. If you ask me, it sounds like you either fried the clutch plates to the point that they just don't grab anymore, or something broke internally and has either disconnected the drivetrain path inside the motor or jammed the clutch so that it stays disengaged all the time. Did you try shifting into all the gears? If you can shift into another gear and it moves, you like had a tranny gear blow apart. Another possiblity is the shifting mechanism itself. Do you really know for sure that the tranny is actually shifting into a gear? You could start by removing the clutch cover on the right side of the motor, which is seperate from the right side motor cover. This will give you easy access to the clutch to check your plate wear/breakage. If the bike is tipped on the left side, you won't even have to drain the tranny oil. Don't forget to turn your gas off before performing that step.
