I have a 2004 Rm-z 250, it has idleing issues. It idles fast at start up and you need to crack the throttle a couple of times to get it to idle down. this goes on all the time. is it a pilot issue?

Need to adjust the throttle cable by the little nuts in line up by throttle and for idle there should be a screw on side of carb up above the over flo screw (which is on the bottom of the bowl)it will be right above the bowl start it up and turn the screw one way will make it idle up the other way idle down
idle jet has probably got blocked, there are two jets, an idle and a main, when your bump starting it is most likely using the main jet and when you decreas the throttle it is coming onto the blocked idle jet. take the idle jet out of the carb and check it.

Dont twist the throttle at all when starting the warm/hot engine. The carb has a diaphragm fuel pump that gives a shot of gas each time you crack the throttle open. It is very easy to flood the bike.
