Question about 1992 Suzuki GSF 400 Bandit

1 Answer

I have a 1992 suzuki gsf400 bandit. i charged the battery to full charge, bike started great. left the house and rode 4 blocks to gas station for gas. battery was totally dead when i tried to leave. bump started it and it ran no problem. had power to lights, blinkers, horn, etc.. was then able to ride the bike for 10 miles to my doctor appointment without issue. when i got out, battery still dead(got nothing but a click from the starter) so i bump started it again. this time on my way home i had to turn the choke on at stops because rpm would drop too low and bike would die. any help?

Everything you want to know about the bike can be found in the VIN number (letter). In this case pay attention to the 10th digit (reading left to right). This may help too: http://www.suzukicycles.org/Bandit-series/GSF400-Bandit.shtml

if the bike does not turn over as you describe clean the switch on the clutch and side stand as these can stick which will not allow the bike to turn over.

Fault with electric start on my Suzuki GSF 250 Bandit

Check that the clutch is in, kick stand up, and neutral light ablaze. Then try your start button. When you had it running and hit the button, the starter engaged at a slower speed then the bike engine was turning, which led to the stall. The stall means your starter works. If the starter works when the engine is running then it is wiring. Check your kick stand wiring along with the clutch wires which plug in on the handlle bar or where the clutch cable enters the engine.

Gsf400 bandit wont charge

Hi!

Yepp, since you replaced the generator and you checked the cables, there cant be anything else, the battery is out of time and wont charge.
And its easy to check, take the bike to a repaire shop and let them measure the power your new generator gives, it takes 1 minit to check that and they wont charge you for it ( if they are nice guys ). But i will say that you need a new battery.
