Question about 2001 Yamaha XTZ 660

When i put it in first let out on the clutch my bike will go up in rpm but the bike acts like it doesnt want to go. it moves and will eventually go but not like it should. it does it through all gears. 2001 660 raptor

The clutch on my yz85 dirt bike is too tight when you put it into gear and let off the clutch it acts like it's still engaged what do I do?

well it should have about 3 mm of play at the clutch lever until it starts to pull the cable if it hasn't then adjust the cabke until it has,also a stiff sticking cable will cause this take the cable oyt of the clutch lever and out of the clutch arm in the clutch cover and try to move the inner cable with your fingers ,it shouk move very easily if it doesnt put a new one on it.

2001 buell balst sat. For a battery fires right up.....however when I engage the clutch it does nothing bike stays in gear....tries to move when starting

Your clutch discs are stuck together, happens sometimes when a bike sits for a LONG TIME. The oil basically acts kinda like glue. you need to get in there and take the clutch discs out and clean them off and put it back together. Of course you might find that the primary(clutch area) is full of water. It happens because the vent for the clutch goes up under the seat and can act like a funnel and drain water back into the case.

I have a 2003 ktm 250sx and when shifting at high rpm's it won't shift.

How is your clutch? Does it slip or drag when starting out? When you put it into 1st gear when starting out does the bike lunge forward? Hold it in first gear with the clutch in and rev the bike up. See if the bike wants to move forward with the clutch in.It sounds to me like your clutch isn't set right or getting worn out. Much easier to shift at low rpms on a clutch than high rpms. I hope this helps...

Put new clutch in 2003 cr 250.. start bike and let out clutch in 1st gear and bike doesnt move

firstly remove clutch cable at lever, put into gear and see if its hard to push and turns the engine over - if its easy with little resistance then the clutch isnt releasing fully. check the pressure plate springs on clutch unit making sure the plates are squeezed up tight together and that centre hub is located correctly. if it is hard to push then check cable adjustment. hope this helps

My fzr 1000 is leaking gearbox fluid by the looks of it ,i start it up and when i put it in 1st gear it cuts out before i even let the clutch out. but if i put it in 2nd gear it doesnt cut out,, is this...

that's a bad neutral safety's a shop, the reason it goes bad:

the 1st gear is for getting the bike moving, "never" wind out in 1st gear...ever...high rpm and going from 1st to 2nd is very bad for a transmission...think about how much movement is happening to go from the bottom, past neutral, to 2nd gear...that's where most trans damage occurs...once you start moving, go to 2nd, then rev it out... remember...1st gear is for getting moving only...

u sound smart n thanks for goin oldschool-1st buy a manual-thats how the pros work--in bike yrs its in its 50's-parts wear out-try ajustin cable n then do clutch itself-that does not help-rebuild is probable

On releasing the clutch and giving power the rpm climbs but the bike does not move as fast

hi mate adjust your cable because your slipping the clutch or if that doesnt help your ckutch plates are worn

If you can see the actuator moving, but not disengaging the clutch, it usually means that the clutches are hanging up in the basket, or the actuator is bad and not releasing the clutches. The only way to tell is to take off the clutch cover and watch what happens when you pull the clutch.

this may help,it doesnt sound like the clutch is out of adjustment,it sounds like the clutch plates have become stuck together,(this happens quite a bit if the bike has been parked for a over winter) fix it get the bike moving,down a drive way or something..then just bang it into gear,then shift into the highest gear you can by shifting without the clutch,once you have a bit of pace on simply hold the clutch lever in and work the throttle on and off all the while holding the clutch lever in,the clutch should free itself fairly quickly and should be back to normall,a lot of older bikes are good at doing this..hope this helps

86 fiero gt: 4spd-acts like neutral in all 4 gears

If you're not experiencing a burning smell, it's most likely a clutch adjustment. The clutch appears to remain partially engaged and without adjustment, will eventually burn out. A symptom of this would be the RPM's being higher than normal when shifting.
