Hello so i ran my 1996 honda accord with no oil an it turned on an i got a few blocks an turned off an wont turn over an just makes a clicking noise

Sadly, I think the motor has seized solid. The click is the starter engaging, but it can't turn the motor. For a '96, I am sorry to say you may be calling the wrecker.

Would a bad spark plug not make my turn over? I have a 87 honda shadow 1100.

Hello there.

Not a bike expert but all engines are similar.

Short answer no. The spark plugs are inside the cylinder heads and have nothing to do with physically turning engine.to start it.

One chap had the same problem as you..See here for the story, it was the starter Motor faulty. http://www.hondashadow.net/forum/72-technical-discussion/103891-85-vt1100-wont-start.html

Turning her over works pretty much like this. Four items, Battery, Start switch, start Relay, Starter Motor.

Battery provide heavy duty power to the Starter Motor (which turns the engine over) via a RELAY which has a low power circuit. when you press ignition, the relay connects the heavy duty power to the starter to make it turn.;

Not turning over ....
1) Is the Battery charged ?
2) is the Start switch faulty ? (there would be no clicking from the starter relay)
3) Do you hear a click when trying to start but starter motor not turning ? If so it COULD be the starter motor.itself OR the relay. .

The relay looks like this

Hope this helps a bit.

Citroen troubleshooting

well since the starter was only 2 months old i am betting its an ignition short. When u turn the key, the solenoid on the starter engages the bendix gear with the engines flywheel and then energizes the starter motor. And when u release the ignition the solenoid and the starter motor should de-energize. hope this helps you.

What would cause my honda accord to not turn over

Hello, Sounds like one of two things. Either your battery has been drained or below working level. The other issue could be your starter. The starter is the msmall motor that, when you turn your key, it turns on and turn your engine over. A sign of a bad starter is just a clicking sound when trying to start your engine. A low battery might be a reset clock on your radio or dim lights.
Hope this helps

I have a dodge neon 2004 sxt the started sounds like it is turningbut the motor does not turn at all

Hello, sounds like the gear in your starter motor is not engaging/thrusting forward. It will still spin but it will sound like a effortless free spin, have your starter motor looked at. The other problem it could have but it is a very slim chance is that the flywheel which the starter motor engages onto is stripped, this use to happen in the older cars but its not a common problem now.

Starter motor wont turn over the engine

Hello,
My name is Dane and I'll try to help you with your problem. First attempt to turn the motor by hand to make sure it's free. Make sure you battery is fully charged, and all safety devices are in their proper position for starting. If you have a voltmeter, set it up for DC volts and place the red lead on the starter terminal, and the black lead to a good ground. turn the key to the start position and verify 12VDC. If you have that, check that your starter gear hasn't jammed onto your flywheel. If your battery is indeed good and the starter is free, then you have a bad starter. If not then you have to trace your safety switches and selenoid to see where the circuit is failing. Keep in mind that you can have 12VDC to the starter but if your battery is low, you may not have enough amps to turn the motor. I hope this helps you.. Thanks! Dane

My starter throws blue sparks when i crank my truck. What needs to be fixed and how do I fix it?

Hello Firefight253

Remember a starter is a DC motor with a Solenoid integrated onto it on GM's. So there is a short to ground either in the solenoid or the windings of the Starter. Replace the starter, or have a shop do it for you. Safety hint Please do not keep turning over the motor this short is just like directly shorting out your batteries they could explode.
