It could be as simple as a faulty sender unit, maybe old oil or more expensively worn bearings.

Could be your oil pressure switch,it's by the oil filter,screwed into block,just unplug electrical connector,unscrew part from block and replace.Here's a link to see.Other possibilities could be,oil pump,compression low.

Check the cam sensor in the nose cone on the right side of the engine. These have a tendency to cause the type of problem you are having. Over time, the heat cycles the sensor goes through causes the epoxy to melt when hot, pulling the wires away from their contacts. After the bike cools, the wires again make contact and the bike runs fine until it gets hot again. Not a bad job to change the sensor, you just have to retime the bike after a new sensor is installed.

Your outside unit has a processor with an LED that also blink the error code. Check the ledger on the access panel, instruction sheet or on processor for explanation of the code

Mine has the same fault. The ignition sensor leaks to earth when it is hot so engine cuts out. I've had two sensors fitted. But They still leak to earth. Trying to get Suzuki to sort, permanently.

Hot start stuck bike starts, runs then the exhust gets real hot


Not good firs to plugs. When exhaust hot the fumes ignite better. Check plugs and coil.

Okay one issue with many of the Sportster models is the intake gaskets. They only seem to have a life of two to three years. What happens is once the bike gets warm these gaskets don't work well if very much at all and the bike is too lean to start. But once the bike cools off all is good. Sound familar?
Now I've personally owned a 1978 XLCR, 1984 XLH, 1997 XLCH, and each and everyone has made me cuss with the same issue.
You may have other issues but I would start there first, as the gaskets are less than $10, the labor if you do it yourself is free. Good luck and let us know if this helps.

Your honda shadow 500 over heats,because the oil cant room around the engine of the bike.the problem is the worn out destroyed oil seal .Check and replace the oil seal of your bike.

2004 FLHTCI Oil pressure not stable


Put an oil pressure gauge on it and monitor it closely. Could be a defective sending unit showing low pressure when pressure is fine. Tapping may be spark knock. Harley did have problems with their fuel injection systems. Make sure you have the right oil filter and oil is at the recommended level.
