Question about 1999 Aprilia RS 125 Extrema

My aprilia rs 125 battery keeps going flat i charge the battery up and last round about 1 mile then gose flat my engine then cuts out i leave for 10mins then it gose again im thinking the magneto as ive had put a another engine in and the magneto connectors have been cut off so i had to connect them on my own, the wires are yellow and theres 3 ov them and they connect to 3 yellow and white wires so im assuming they can be connected eather way as there the same colour just wondering if this is right or as my magneto gone??

2. Engine ground wire loose or broken.
3. Faulty voltage regulator/rectifier module.

You shouldn't have to restrictions only happen on faster bikes 600cc onwards but if you talking about the inabilty to push your revs to the very max, I wouldn't do this unless you know what you doing, and by you asking this question, you don't know what u doing, this rev restriction is set in place for safety of your engine, rather than restricting speed.,,,

SOURCE: aprilia cut out couldn't get it started

if it's trying to start, but taking ages, could be two things really, one it's a fuel problem, check out all your fuel pipes and breather pipes and clean your carb, of the other is the compression is ****, may need new rings, but i would go down the route of fuel first, sounds like it's the fuel

Not starting off starter but goes with a push


Hi, Malcom Smith famous dirt bike rider extraordinaire and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, needs to be 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a "LOAD" test if necessary.
4. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
5. Tip over sensor needs a reset.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
9. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
10. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
11. Check for engine trouble codes.

Crazy temp gauge and wont turn over


Hi Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine run switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, loose, corroded or broken battery cables, especially the "NEGATIVE" cable at both ends (solenoid chatters).
4. Bank angle sensor tripped and ignition/light key switch not cycled to the "OFF" position and then back to the "ON" position.
5. Security alarm needs a reset.
6. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
7. Electric starter shaft pinion gear is not engaging or over-running starter clutch slipping.

I got a full engine rebuild on my rs 125, i was wondering how would run it in properly?


Dear,

As you have got your engine rebuild.
firstly, drive slowly for about 200 miles and also keep peeping the Engine temperatures, gear shifting functions and any noise ruptures......

once yo have the confidence for your repairing then drive it as you wish....do get the oil change after 600 miles once due to some miscellenious scraps......

Hi, Freemantlle the following applies to carbureted also fuel injected models and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or a damaged battery, 9 volts or lower.
2. Faulty alternator/generator and or voltage regulator.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Faulty main circuit breaker or ignition switch, check for loose connections and continuity.
5. Faulty system and or ignition relay, check for continuity.
6. Faulty ignition coil, ignition/electronic module.
7. Faulty CKP, CPS, CMP, MAP, TPS, O2, or BAS sensor, corroded, loose or broken wire connector pins/sockets.
8. Water or dirt in the fuel system, carburetor or filter.
9. . Restricted, blocked or kinked fuel line.
10. Fuel tank empty.
11. The gas cap is not venting properly or fuel tank venting system blocked.
12. A faulty Fuel Pump, pressure regulator and or fuel injectors.
13. Vacuum line from intake manifold to petcock broken, cracked, or not attached, carburetor vent line plugged.
14. Needle and seat stuck closed in the float bowl.

What should be the percentage of the battery when its fully charged on an aprilia 125 rs


If the system is 12 volt, which I think it is, a new battery should read 13+ volts fully charged. Note! You can have 12 volts, but low amps. You need to ideally charge the battery and put a load tester on it to know the truth about the condition of the battery. Chaz Moto DC
