I actually have 2 questions regarding 96 honda xr400. 1) How do I lower the stock rear suspension (if possible) 2) Is there any way to put an electric start on a bike that only has a kick start? Thank you in advance for your help.

Rear suspension has jack up and won't lower on

Possibly the height sensors or valve block at fault. Or a compressor failure. May need to be put on the diagnostics machine to check.

Rear suspension stuck down. 96 crown victoria

these cars try to compensate for weight so the car will deflat the system to lower the rear when jacked up so when you put the car back down it almost touches the ground like a low rider, i think this is what you mean by suspension stuck down?? so all you have to do is start it. it should automatically adjust its self to the right inflation.bringing the car back up to position

If you have the coil spring suspension, then your spring for that corner has really sagged[doubtful] I suspect you actually have the rear air suspension ,and the air spring for the Right/Rear has lost air, allowing the rear end to lower down greatly. Usually, you need a new air spring when one develops a leak. You may or may not be able to see the leak with a spray solution of soapy water after the spring is removed for inspection. Sometimes you have to apply about 20psi of air pressure into the spring to inflate it a bit, then put the spring under water in a big enough tank/tub of water to catch the leak that way.

Lowering bike

would I be better off shortening the rear shock or would the Emig link or something similar be better? Would you still have full amount of travel in the rear with the link? Looks like it would just change the swingarm location to me. Any clearance issues with the rear fender on full compression? Would it balance OK with the front if travel there is reduced to 10 or so?I have an '02 LC4 that I lowered the front forks by sliding them up into the triple clamp about 3/4. I had to put a washer under the handlebar mount to get the forks up as high as I could. Since I weigh 225 plus gear I set the rear sag about 1/4 inch over what it should be. I also bought racetech springs for the front and Adventurer springs for the rear. With my weight and the lowering method I used the seat height is about 1 1/4 lower than stock at static sag. With me on it it drops about 1 1/2 to 2 lower than stock. I can reach the ground easily. I don't really need to be lower since I am 6'1 but I like to ride tight trails and prefer to be able to put my foot down even when off camber downhill. I never botton since the racetech springs do there part, and I still have full travel length.,,,
