Question about 1996 Yamaha Royal Star XVZ 1300 A

I have 1996 royal star i have replaced clutch and presure plate lines put kit in master clyinder put on new slave cylinder and have bleed and bleed it ! it works for about 14 or 15 times then it will slip then you bleed it and go on ! like it wont let the fluid go back ! any answers? thank you !

Make sure the master cylnder reseviour is venting normally

I just finished putting on a new gear box and clutch kit for and when i started it and put it on gear it was so low and soft and a loud noise after that... I just want to know why did it do that pls?


So you installed a new transmission and a whole new clutch kit? Did the kit include the pressure plate, clutch, throw out bearing and slave cylinder? Did you bleed the slave cylinder? The low and soft pedal is a clear sign that there is air in the hydraulic system. The loud noise after that tells me you're either grinding the gear trying to shift or there is a problem inside the transmission itself. If you installed everything correctly and torqued all the bolts correctly in the clutch assembly and transmission, then try bleeding the slave cylinder again, sometimes air gets trapped in the cylinder and it's hard to get out, If you let the clutch master cylinder run dry while you either had the clutch apart or while you were bleeding the clutch, then you have to start from scratch and re-bleed the whole system.

Bleeding the clutch hydraulics will not solve a slipping clutch. You probably need to change the fiber plates in the clutch.

Clutch slave cylinder wont come up to presure


If the master cylider and slave cylinder have been rebuilt and they won't hold, it sounds like there is an internal leak in one end of the system.
Could be a damaged (cracked) cylinder where the rubber cup will not seal.

I cannot bleed the clutch on my kia caranvil


First lets make sure we are on the same page here.Your saying you have no clutch resivioir and the system is feed from the brake master cylinder correct .Now the clutch has two clylinders the master witch atteches to the clutch pedal with the rod and it mounted on the fire wall . The slave cylinder is mounted between the bell houseing and the engine . And to replace this you would need to remove the transmission and actualy moves the pressure plate springs back when the pedal is depressed . Think of it like a light its eighter on or off and pushing the pedal down turns it off Normaly the clutch would be bleed at the slave cylinder there should be a bleeder fitting near the top of the bell hoseing. And should be bleed just a brake line no trick you just have to find the bleeder . Check for fluid at the clutch master on the pedal if you see any oil at all leaking you will never be able to keep it bleed sometimes there bad even when new .If oil can get out air is GETTING IN and it will constantly need to be rebleed. Customer has 1984 GL 1200 Goldwing with clutch problems, is this hydraulic system & how does it operate?


It operates exactly like an automotive system. DOT 3/4 brake fluid is put into the reservoir on the handle bar left side master cylinder assembly and bled out at the slave cylinder on the round clutch cover on the backside of the motor in front of the rear wheel. Both the master cylinder rebuild kit and the rear slave cylinder kit are available from a Honda if needed. Some times a simple bleeding will fix the problem. If you can not build pressure in the master cylinder , try loosening the banjo bolt and pump the clutch lever until you get fluid pressure causes leaking past the copper washers. Then tighten the banjo bolt on the master cylinder and bleed the slave cylinder. On some Goldwing's the clutch cover can be removed and the clutch plates can be replaced with the engine still in the frame. Unfortunately. the spring towers can easily be broken if you are not extremely careful.

Clutch suddenly has no resistance and car won't shift gears. Fluids were low, have put fluid in the reservoir but still doesn't work. How do you bleed a clutch line?


on the transmission there is a slave cylinder that works like a brake cylinder, when you apply pressure to the clutch pedal a rod inside the vehicle under the dash pushes into a clutch master cylinder, (almost like a brake master cylinder without the reservoir, as the clutch master cylinder works off the brake master cylinders reservoir) the plunger in the clutch master cylinder applies fluid pressure to the slave cylinder,(located down on the trans near the clutch fork assembly) which projects a piston rod into the clutch fork dis-engaging the clutch. To bleed the clutch slave cylinder locate the bleeder screw on the slave cylinder,break loose so it loosens and tightens easily. Check fluid in brake master cylinder reservoir,fill if needed, while bleeder on the slave cyl is closed have a helper push clutch pedal to floor and back 7-8 times, (At first the clutch might stay at the floor, just pull it up by hand or foot and continue) after several pumps with no rest time push pedal to the floor and hold down with foot pressure, at this time loosen the bleeder on slave untill fluid leaks out, watch for air bubbles, close bleeder and repeat untill there is no sign of air bubbles, (make sure to check fluid in the brake master cylinder and keep fill as needed, do not let fluid get less than 1/2 empty as it might **** air and you will have to start over) If this does not bring clutch to operate then you need to check if slave cylinder is reachig its full extension of push rod or not. If it is not then you will have to replace the clutch master cyl or the clutch slave cyl or both as seals are bad and wont hold pressure. Or you need to inspect the clutch fork,the throw-out bearing, or the pressure plate fingers and clutch plate for failure or broken bent parts. I hope it turns out to be a easy fix on that clutching thing.

I have a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo in which the clutch pedal went to the floor & stayed there. Upon inspection, the clutch master cylinder was empty on fluid. I filled the reservoir & bleed the clutch...


It sounds as if you have 2 problems here.

The fact that the clutch pedal went to the floor and stayed there suggest a fault in the master cylinder. It may be that you need to overhaul the master cylinder.

Overhaul kits are available at less cost than a clutch master cylinder:

The grinding noise ... A grinding noise would be caused by either the gear not engaging properly because of the defective clutch.

Or, if it is more of a squealing noise - that may be the clutch release bearing at fault.

Are you absolutely sure that your entire clutch unit - pressure plate, driven plate and release bearing aren't worn?

The RSV uses a hydraulic actuated clutch...so there is no adjustments.
Periodic maintenance involves replacing the brake fluid in the clutch, and bleeding the air out of the slave cylinder.
The single spring on the clutch itself tend to get weak and cause slippage....Barnett offers a kit to replace the spring with a heavier duty one.
Its also very important to use motor oil that does not have the energy conserving symbol as it will promote clutch slippage in the wet plate clutch in the Venture.

Clutch pedal goes down to floor but doesnt come back up when some1 starts engine and i put a bar by clutch level and move it we can select gears then i have change master cylinder but no different can you...


sounds like your clutch plate is sticking, i recommend fitting a new clutch kit, while doing this remember to machine the flywheel or you will still have same problem. if this does not work it might be your clutch cable, replace cale first (cheaper option 1st) then replace the clutch kit.

You either have air in the system or a faulty master cylinder.

Check fluid is being delivered from the master cyl. by slackening off the hydraulic line connection at the master cylinder while depressing pedal.
Until fluid is able to be delivered from the master cyl. itself you have no hope of bleeding the rest of the system.

As with all hydraulic bleeding processes, only release the fluid line when the pedal is being pushed slowly down or held down against the return spring pressure of the clutch pressure plate - re-tighten it on the upward stroke of the pedal to stop it drawing air back into the system.

If you are confident that there is fluid delivery from the master cyl. move to the clutch slave cylinder.

Again only open the bleeder valve when the pedal is being pushed slowly down (i.e. the hydraulic system is pressurised).

(If you keep the master cylinder full of hydraulic fluid, sometimes gravity will cause the line to 'self bleed' if the bleed nipple is left slightly open for several minutes at the start of the bleed process).
When fluid appears, finish the slave cylinder air bleed in the normal way.

If you have the time to spare, I have often found that provided the master cylinder is kept full, leaving the system overnight will allow a lot of the air to leave the system (gravity helps).
