Question about Suzuki RM 125 Motorcycles

1 Answer

I have a 1998 suzuki rm125 and it seems like it lost its powerband...I know this doesnt actually exist in the engine so I cleaned the power valves really good and put it back together and rode it for about 10-20 minutes and it acted like somebody turned the choke on and the more throttle i gave it the more it would try to die and then it after keeping it running for about 15 seconds it died and wont start at all and seems that there is no compretion. I can turn it over with my pinky finger. So could the problem with no power band and it not starting be because it needs a new top end?

If you can turn it over that easy then yes. to confirm it tip a thimble of oil down the spark plug hole and the compression should come back temporarily.

Location of crankshaft sensor suzuki wagon r 1998

losts of engines, by suzuki,
you are not , located in N. America, and car options vary by market.
the early gen used the F6a, in 97 they went to K10A and some have a 1.2L.
before diagnosing any car engine, one must know which one he has.
and yes, the crank sensors move about each. Suzuki sells the FSM for your car. and has all this tech data.
off the wiki, read this. (1998.5 cars, so .... even more complex)
"1998 saw the introduction of the second-generation Wagon R in Japan, with the redesign of the Wagon R+ and replacing it in 1999 - this was brought to Europe in 2000, with larger engines. This is also produced in Esztergom in Hungary and Gurgaon, India. The Opel Agila is a badge engineered version of the Suzuki Wagon R+, also introduced in summer 2000."

Power seems to run out early running through the gears and there is a hollow sound in the exhaust at the end

Hello...from your comment it sounds like your bike needs a valve adjustment. The "hollow" sound in the exhaust and the powerband loss is usually a good indication of this. Have you had them adjusted lately? This first adjustment should be done at 5000 miles and then every 7500 miles there after.
The settings are:
Intake .003 - .005
Exhaust .007 - .009
Always set valves on a COLD engine.

I hope this helps...good luck with your bike.

My 2003 sx 250 doesnt seem as power full as it should , you can feel the power there but nothing like my brothers yz 250 it,s like the powerband is only half cutting in or something like that ,,,, 50...

HI. REMOVE THE POWERVALVE COVER ON THE SIDE OF THE CYLINDER.
MAKE SURE THE ARM IS CLIPPED ON TO THE POWER VALVE ITSELF

START YOUR ENGINE AND AS YOU REV YOUR MOTOR YOU SHOULD SEE THE ARM ON THE POWER VALVE MOVE. IF NO MOVEMENT YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THAT SIDE ENGINE CASE AND CHECK CHECK VALVE FUNCTION....CHEERS

Engine revs up while idling

Check the Exhaust Valve actuating rod is firmly in it's bush and the actuating arm is screwed to the valve actuator...the diagram on this link below refers.

Have you looked closely for air leaks between carby and engine, airbox obstructions or wrong sized pilot jet? Choke plunger thread not loose allowing extra fuel to surge through? Try turning air mixture screw IN half turn. The site below has the complete bike in exploded diagrams. Hope this all helps, good luck.
Cheers.

Broken hook on RM125 engine that holds clutch cable in place

You can see if it could be welded back on. It would need to be somewhere that can weld aluminum. If it is on a cover, replace the cover.
