Starts but cuts off when you turn throttle up.

idle circuit is good but main jet circuit is not feeding the motor and hence it cuts out when you give it gas. Carb needs to be thoroughly cleaned/rebuilt.

My gator will not run smooth, cuts in and out, difficult to keep from stalling, what is the problem and how is it cured

I would bet its carb related.I have rebuilt many carbs on all types of mowers blowers tillers ect. The gas out now has ethanol in it and it gums up the carb over time if left in tank and not used for awhile. Not a big deal to fix.Remove carb and disassemble clean out the ports and jets by blowing carb cleaner through them. Good luck

Honda snowblower, starts well, and runs smoothly on idle, however on max throttle it cuts out; the choke part of the throttle seems to work fine too. Any idea what the problem is?

give it a little throttle, just before it cuts out. and adjust the carb, screws for best performance. if it will not run good after the adjustment. then the carb needs rebuilt, it may have dirt in it! good-day !

I have a 1980 Honda 750k. I recently purchased it and it wouldnt hold an idle at all. would just die if you wasnt giving it gas. I had the carbs tore down checked and rebuilt but I am still having the same...

you may have a vaccume leak try spraying some carb cleaner around the carbs and intake ports while running and see if that changes the idle speed or allows it to idle for a second, otherwise it still sounds like a carb problem please rate

I start the scooter up fine and when i let it idle it just cuts out same when i rev the throttle what is the problem here

Condensation from inside the gas tank has probably made it's way into the carburetor. There is probably a drain screw on the carb float bowl. Drain the bowl, let it refill with gas, then see if the problem has gone away. Also, it may be time for a new spark plug. If none of that works, remove the carb then remove th float bowl from the carb and clean the carb with spray carb cleaner. Spray into every little hole in the carb. Below is a generic diagram. Please rate my answer. Thanks! tombones49_70.gif

Just rebuilt top end starts up fine , but the motor cuts out when you give it gas. runs Ok at topend but taking off on even the slightest up hill it just quits. I cleaned the carb but it has not helped???...

Hello,

Kinda sounds like a problem I had some years back with a Honda. We checked everything and finally found a small hole in the carb boot. It was running fine at idle, but when taking off at full throttle it would **** out. We replaced the boot and clamps and it ran like new.

I hope this gives you an idea of what to look for.

Regards,

Oz

the carburetor needs to be rebuilt, it sounds like the accelerator pump is bad which is in the carburetor and will be replaced when it is rebuilt. I hope that helps you out!

Wont start without choke

I am having a similiar problem. bmw r 1100 s will only start with full choke and will die if I cut off choke or give it any throttle. This is my first bike and it has been sitting in a garage for 2 years. I took out the carbs, cleaned them and rebuilt them. I didn't find any residual in the carbs and they were very clean. Today, I was able to get the bike running and took it down the neighborhood but after the bike warms up it idles at 6K! Man... If I can't find any answers from this forum, I will probably drop it off at the motorcycle shop just down the hill from me. Any suggestions anyone? I think I will try to drain the fuel and give it new gas. But still....
