Question about 2005 Yamaha Ybr 125

1 Answer

2008 Yamaha YBR 125 Custom. Does not want to start-up. Battery, fuel, spark, etc. OK, on centerstand, in neutral. Suddenly, it starts. Runs OK on any revs or at any speed, even with passenger. Once stopped, may or may not start-up again. If does, it runs like a charm. Fuel consumption looks OK. What on earth it can be? Thanks for any hints

I would start with pulling the carbs, and cleaning the jets. run a wire from a wire blush , so you dont damage them, thru them, with some carb cleaner. should be fine after that. pull the jets and clean then, dont just spray carb cleaner thru them.

Ybr 125 is struggling to start

Hi, Ian before testing any electrical component in the Starter Circuit it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test because your battery may have 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amps causing the battery to be faulty and must be replaced, especially "AGM" batteries.
1. Spark plugs in bad condition or have an improper gap or are partially fouled.
2. Spark plug cables in bad condition.
3. Loose wire/cable connection at one of the battery terminals, especially the "NEGATIVE" cable, check it at both ends, coil, or plug between ECM or ignition module.
4. Throttle controls not adjusted correctly.
5. Water or dirt in the fuel system.
6. Water or dirt in the carburetor.
7. Intake air leak.
8. Fuel tank vent hose and vapor valve plugged, or fuel line closed off, restricting fuel flow.
9. Enrichener valve inoperative.
10. Engine lubricant to heavy (winter operation).
11. Ignition is not functioning properly (possible sensor failure).
12. Faulty ignition coil.
13. Valves sticking.

2007 Yamaha Ybr 125 fuel pump not working

Hi, Simon_anthon the following is a systematic procedure for diagnosing fuel pump issues designed to keep "DRACHMA" to a minimum. If you need parts check with Amazon and eBay first to keep costs down.
1. If your pump does not turn on check the pump fuse and relay and all wiring including connectors for corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets.
1. Normal fuel pump pressure is 3-5 PSI.
2. Check any rubber or plastic tubing for age-related pinholes by removing and plugging the ends that connect to the fuel valve and then turn on the ignition switch and watch for fuel streams exiting the pinholes, if any exist, replace tubing as necessary.
3. Check for a clogged a primary fuel filter that comes off the bottom of the pump to screen out big rocks and clean as necessary.
4. Check for a clogged secondary fuel filter that's outside if applicable by removing it from the system and replace it with a short splicing tube turn on the ignition switch and recheck fuel pressure if pressure increases to normal pressure you need a new secondary filter.
5. If all the above check out OK and the pump is not functioning properly then you need a new fuel pump.
