I've got to beleive at minimum you're looking at a top-end. That would include valves/piston/ring and associated machine work. The grey/white oil indicates coolant coming into the cylinder head and mixing with your oil. Not a good sign. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but it looks like a pretty involved repair.

1985 s10 blazer 2.8L has muddy looking oil

Yes, muddy coolant means there is oil in it. Check it by dipping your finger into the coolant while it is cold and rub your fingers together. If it is oil, you will feel it right away, while rubbing your fingers.

SMELLED OIL IN CAR VENTS. LOOKED AT COOLANT RESEVOIR AND IT HAD OIL IN IT. OIL DIPSTICK AND OIL CAP LOOKED CLEAN, SO I SUSPECTED UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD LEAK. WHEN MECHANIC CHANGED MY VALVE COVER GASKETS...

If the leaking gasket was a long term problem, the bearings may have been ready to fail. A standard procedure when replacing any gasket that has possibly been leaking anything into the engine is to do an oil change. If I read your question right, sounds like this wasn't done, if it was, then it would be hard to fault the shop. Any coolant or fuel that leaks into the oil will degrade the lubrication properties of the oil possibly to the point of metal to metal contact causing the bearings to fail.

STEEM OUT TAIL PIPE

sounds like you have a blown head gasket. Could also be a cracked block. I would start with the gasket .

Some kind of oil in coolant on a 94 Celica St

They had the head gasket replaced, when oil gets into the anti freeze its almost impossible to get it all out but a little oil won't hurt it. Its just ugly. To be sure the engine is fine, Do a compression test, the next is pressure test(see if there is a coolant leak and if so where is it going), and pull the oil drain plug for a second. If antifreeze is in the oil, it will settle at the bottom of the pan. Also sludge on the dip stick could be a sign of an issue.

Low coolant and oil smells like gas. No white/blue

let your car idle go back to the tail pipe if it seems to be steaming alot , and or smells like antifreeze then you have a head gasket problem or a gasket leak alowing in directly into your engine

Gas smell in oil

The white strip of fluid on the oil is a slight amount of coolant getting into the oil . The water could be from condensation on the dip stick. I would drain the oil and just put regular recommended oil in it with a new filter. I would pull the spark plugs and check for any coolant or oil residue on them. Then drive the vehicle a little and check the performance. If there is unusual noise from the engine then or blue smoke from the tailpipe the engine has internal damage.

Assuming the engine performance stays the same. There could be a fuel injector sticking intermitantly.

350 chevy Lost compression and engine began to smoke.

pull out your spark plugs and try cranking the motor again, see if you're spitting out coolant from the plug holes. I'm asking you to do this, cuz it sounds like you blew a head gasket.

2005 Chevy Impala exhaust smell

neither one of these would cause gas to leak. sure it is not coolant ? if you think it is gas it is not safe to drive car as it could catch on fire. possible cause would be a leaking injector.
