Question about 2004 Suzuki GSX-R 1000

My exhaust has gone loud and power has decreased, have i lost a cylinder or spark plug lead, it runs rougher as well

Hopefully it is just a dodgy spark plug. If it isn't and you've checked the HT lead for a spark, have a compression test done. It could be a sticky valve unless it has been raced.

Getting a rapid misfire in cylinder 5 changed spark plugs ,cleared the code came back on the day later ???


Hi Jason, Sounds like you have a coil pack and one of your coils is faulty. To check which coil is faulty just pull a spark plug lead off a spark plug and plug the spark plug lead onto a SPARE spark plug, Now earth it to the CLEAN motor or body (make sure the spark plug is touching metal) Start the motor, it's going to run ROUGHER than usual but you'll see if that spark plug is sparking... If it sparks then that coil is good. Turn the motor off and replace the spark plug lead back on to the original spark plug. Repeat with the next spark plug lead and so on until you start your car and the spark plug doesn't spark, THAT'S YOUR FAULTY COIL...

Where is the 5th coil pack located on a 2005 buick rendezvous?


Hi patricia, If you have a faulty coil and your car's running rough to find the faulty coil just pull a spark plug lead off and start your car, If it runs (ROUGHER) than before then that coil is ok. Turn the car off and replace that spark plug lead back on to the spark plug. Repeat with the next spark plug lead and so on until you start your car and it runs the same as if THAT spark plug lead is on or off, NOW TO MAKE SURE THIS IS THE FAULTY COIL, Put a spark plug into the spark plug lead that's off and earth it to the motor or body (it has to be touching steel), Start the motor and if that's the faulty coil the spark plug won't spark I hope this helps.....

I have a code P0355 Coil E I believe it is #5 But not sure which is #5


Mate your car runs rough ok, To find the faulty coil just pull a spark plug lead off and start your car, If it runs (ROUGHER) than before then that coil is ok. Turn the car off and replace that spark plug lead on the spark plug. Repeat with the next spark plug lead and so on until you start your car and it runs the same as if THAT spark plug lead is on or off, THAT'S THE FAULTY COIL.... Engine valve timing


This is a simple engine to work on. Check for compression in the dead cylinder. If low or none, you found your problem....likely burnt exhaust valve.
If compression good, check injector for fuel spay or fuel delivery head for fuel delivery. With engine idling, crack each line nut at the fuel distributor and see if any fuel squirts out.

If so, check spark delivery by pulling lead to dead cylinder and install used/spare spark plug into plug lead. lay this against engine and run engine watching for spark at plug tip. Do not touch the plug or wire while engine running.

If no spark, check distributor cap for cracks inside. The electronics are primative on these so the above should get you close to the reason cylinder is not firing.

Can bad valve covers blow your engine up ?? And what would be the signs of your engine about to blow up ?


No, the valve cover just bolts to top of engine, it just sits there with no pressure on it or against it, a protective cover, as it were. With a gasket seal on it to prevent oil leaks.
The signs would be a loud knocking, like a loose piston rod that could break apart anytime and fly through the oil pan or engine block. Other signs may be more subtle: a bad head gasket may cause a lot of white smoke out the exhaust-coolant is being burned in the cylinders. Engine won't blow up, but will run rougher and rougher till it finally dies. Odd noises in the engine is worrisome, as it may indicate an internal mechanical problem, if not fixed it may kill the engine.
Overheating is probably the biggest problem with engines, extreme overheating can quickly damage engines, causing costly repairs.
Change the oil regularly, keep the coolant clean and full, have a clean gas filter and air filter, new spark plugs about every 25,000 miles, fix minor problems immediately-don't let them languish and lead to bigger problems, in other words regular maintenance will diminish the possibility of engines going bad.
I hope I've answered your question, don't know what to add. Sometimes the engine can get a problem with no previous signs-things just happen.

We have code p0304 on our 2001 chrysler voyager(with 220,000 miles) it runs rough and runs worse when ac is on. we tried to change spark plugs, gas cap and air filter. The check engine light was then...

What would cause a cylinder 5 misfire in my 2002 jeep grand cherokee 4.7L

A P0301 code means that the car's computer has detected that one of the engine's cylinders is not firing properly. In this case it's cylinder #1.

Symptoms may include:
· the engine may be harder to start
· the engine may stumble / stumble, and/or hesitate
· other symptoms may also be present

A code P0301 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

· Faulty spark plug or wire
· Faulty coil (pack)
· Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
· Faulty fuel injector
· Burned exhaust valve
· Faulty catalytic converter(s)
· Running out of fuel
· Poor compression
· Defective computer

If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.

2001 ford e250 service engine light is on. computer shows cylinder #7 misfire code.
