If the bike was built after 1980 it should have a 17 digit VIN number stamped on the steering head.
Copy it down, then count off the 10th character from the left.
The year will be....

A=1980 B=1981 C=1982 D=1983 E=1984 F=1985 G=1986 H=1987 J=1988

K=1989 L=1990 M=1991 N=1992 P=1993 R=1994 S=1995 T=1996

V=1997 W=1998 X=1999 Y=2000 1=2001 2=2002 3=2003 4=2004

5=2005 6=2006 7=2007 8=2008 9=2009 A=2010 B=2011

As you can see...they went back to reusing letters in 2010 again

Kawasaki motor bike with serial number 64-084221. Require model and year of manufacture.

Hi, Carol the numbers you gave me look like engine serial numbers which are very difficult to decode. 1980 and later bikes have a 17 digit VIN # usually stamped on the fork neck or labeled on the front down tubes consisting of letters and numbers. I need the VIN # in order to provide the information you requested. Please click on the word "COMMENT" below and provide this information in the box that will open and then click on the green comment box in the bottom right-hand corner after it posts I will receive an "ALERT" icon that will allow me to respond to your information. I wonder what year model my Kawasaki 800cc Vulcan Classic is. The number on the steering head is: JKBVN800ABA 084339

Hello, it is either a 1981 model or 2011, you count the 10th digit in which is B and it is coded accordingly, if it was between 2001 and 2009 it would have the actual number, 7, meaning 2007!!!

Steering head split while riding 2006 zx14 model, not an impact accident, front forks did not bend

The ZX14 is not subject to such a failure without some type of instigation. I have repaired many ZX14 that have been in accidents and the forks appear to be stronger than the steering head. This means that the steering head area will bend / break before the forks will. The most common cause for broken steering head is the Wheelie. When the bike comes back down from the wheelie it has very high impact on the steering head. I would suggest a new frame as repairing a broken steering head can be very dangerous.

Thanks and I hope that this helps.

What year was it made engine number zx400ge oo8_ _ _ _ was told 1994 i think its 1989 need to know befor i buy it

To Identify the year model look for the compliance plate.
It is usually found on the steering stem(on the frame between the forks).Turn the steering to one side to get a good look & use a torch.
Otherwise go to "buykawasaki.com"
This web site lets you input the engine number &will tell you what year it is.
OR- ring your local Kawasaki dealer & Quote the number. From this they should easily be able to Identify your model for you.
Hope this helps.
