Radiator filler caps are usually on the top end of the vehicle/motor you are using, it is generally made of compression-resistant metals but some can be plastic. Make sure any motor you are opening that has an accessible radiator cap is off and properly cooled down before opening, as the rapid decompression of the radiator can cause very hot fluids to spew out. Radiator caps are usually marked

CHEVY 1990 5.7 FLUSHED MY HEATER CORE BUT STILL DON'T GET VERY HOT AIR HOSES HOT ,SMELL ANTIFREEZE IN CAR BUT NO LEAKS ON FLOOR DO YOU THINK IT'S HEATER CORE OR THERMOSTAT???

is the blower fan running? if not check fuse, blower motor relay, & blower motor.
did you vent (some call it burp) the cooling system? if not search. try this: put car in an inclined position (radiator highest). while coolant is COOL remove radiator filler cap (reservoir filler cap if none in the radiator). set heater to maximum heat. run engine. turn on fan. while radiator is warming watch, if not been vented, air bubble may come out, you may have to add coolant to adjust level as necessary. replace radiator filler cap. check reservoir coolant level too.
if return hose from heater core stays much colder than the supply hose, suspect there's blockage/s in the heater core. (flush heater core again. disconnect both heater core from the engine, attach garden hose to the return, run water till clean water comes out from the supply hose - you don't have to do this if this was the procedure you did).
thermostat: take it out & see if it's stuck open.

Air in lines for cooling system of 95 nissan maxima

Hello Michelle, my name is Michael and I too had air in the cooling system and this is how I got it out. I had to raise the front end to where the middle of the front bumper was about 40 inches. I removed the radiator cap and immediately had ton add more coolant till it was visibly full at the radiator filler neck. Make sure the cap on the overflow reservoir is on tight. Now start the car and observe the filler neck because you will probably have to add more coolant. once it is full turn on the heater to the max position and direct it to the feet and econ. you should see a lot of bubbles coming from the radiator filler neck. That is the air being purged from the system. make sure you fill with coolant as needed. Now when the t-stat opens you'll see the coolant drop from the filler neck because it's being exchanged from the engine block do not add coolant at this point. Put the radiator cap back on and remove the screw holding the overflow reservoir and raise the reservoir above the radiator and squeeze the tube to get the air out of the tube. Once the air is out and the tube is filled with coolant put the reservoir back in place and fill with coolant to the FULL mark. Shut off the engine lower vehicle and let the engine cool down and remove the radiator cap and fill with coolant till it is visibly full and replace the radiator cap. I had to do this twice but it worked and my car is operating at normal temperature and with the same stroke took care of a few other problems. Hope this helps and good luck to you.

Air bledding radiator and engine

There is no bleeding it.
The correct/official procedure is;
- Tighten the drain plugs
- Fill the radiator up to the thermostat housing filler neck with coolant.
- Fill the reservoir tank up to the upper level line with coolant.
- Start the engine with the radiator cap removed and run it until no more air bubbles can be seen in the coolant.
- Tap the radiator hoses to force any air bubbles caught inside.
- Stop the engine and add coolant up to the radiator filler neck.
- Install the radiator cap.
- Fill the reservoir tank up to the upper level line with coolant and install the cap.

I hope this help,
Sid.

Looking for the fill plug on a 200 dodge darango 4 wheel drive front punkin all i see is a vent pipe

COOLANT-ADDING ADDITIONAL
Do not remove radiator cap to add coolant to system. When adding coolant to maintain correct level, do so at coolant reserve/overflow tank. Use a 50/50 mixture of ethylene glycol antifreeze containing Alugard 340-2 y and low mineral content water.
Remove radiator cap only for testing or when refilling system after service. Removing cap unnecessarily can cause loss of coolant and allow air to enter system, which produces corrosion.

COOLANT LEVEL CHECK
The cooling system is closed and designed to maintain coolant level to top of radiator.
WARNING: DO NOT OPEN RADIATOR DRAINCOCK WITH ENGINE RUNNING OR WHILE ENGINE IS HOT AND COOLING SYSTEM IS UNDER PRESSURE.
Remove radiator cap. The coolant level should be to top of radiator. If not, and if coolant level in coolant recovery bottle is at ADD mark, check for:
  • An air leak in coolant reserve/overflow tank or its hose
  • An air leak in radiator filler neck
  • Leak in pressure cap seal to radiator filler neck

Add coolant?

Hello,

There are 4 screws holding the radiator cover on. Remove these screws to access the filler cap. Remove the cap (while cold) and fill radiator, replace filler cap and then replace the cover. Start your bike and check for leaks.
