Am putting new piston in 200cc engine for ATV. Piston is a 63.5mm. Does anyone know the order of the rings? The ATV is a Kandi 200cc (we have never heard of this one). Disregard the Kanuni info below.

The top rings are the same it is the oil/scraper ring (if used) that is different and goes in the lower slot.
Place the gaps 270 Degrees apart and that's it.

Putting a Forsetti 1mm oversized piston in my Honda XL 500 , what tolerance does the rebore have to be. 90.5 o/d piston.

Rebore size/piston clearance will depend on the piston diameter and engine type. A split skirt piston tends to have less clearance. An air cooled engine tends to have more clearance.

It is important the boring operation leaves the bore one or two hundredths of a mm undersize and final finishing is done with a micrometer hone passed rapidly up and down the bore in order to leave a 120 degree crosshatched pattern, proven to be the most efficient for oil retention.

It takes at least 1000 miles for steel piston rings to properly bed in but 500 miles is sufficient for cast iron rings and it is important to use a low spec oil for the bedding in process - straight 30 or a proprietary running in oil.

Using a high spec oil from the start is likely to result in the piston rings taking an extraordinary amount of time to bed in - if ever!

Hello Lee,
Did a qualified professional do the work?
Is the smoke light grey or black? Light grey is usually oil.. black is over rich carburetor.
Were the valve stem seals replaced?
Was a new piston and rings installed?, Was the cylinder bored and the correct new piston and rings installed?..
What is the compression on this engine after the rebuild? ... Ie should be over 120PSI. !!

please respond on here to me...thanks!!

After top overhaul my bike engine blow out excessive smoke and oil drip from exhaust manifold, what is the problem

Your problem is quite simple as what you done is rebuilt it with new piston rings i expect ,,but what you dident know is how to go about it SO what you have done is to fit the rings upside down ,,or ,,you have broken the new one putting it in ,,or,, you have got the wrong ring for the job,,or you dident hone out the cylinder the correct way and you took the lip of the cylinder but to much ,,or ,,the piston groove was to big alowing the piston rings to flap as it goes up and down,,and if 2 or 3 ring piston the ring gaps have to be (being air cooled) reset at 4 thou(.0004")(per inch per bore) and all rings have to be staggered,, 4 ringed piston stag to N-S-E-WEST,3 Rings in a Triangle 2 rings Opersit each other and 1 ring any where if the piston isent pined.
So let me know how you get on and work by the above and you will have a good bike again. Ron
New gaskets and (no goo ) to fit them on with and away you go
Let me know how you get on Ron
