It's your crank angle pick up for your ignition timing. When they fail they go open circuit when hot then at cold they close again so hard to diagnose as resistance reading will be fine when cold. About 45 GBP for a genuine triumph one. About an hours work to fit it inside right hand crank shaft end cover.

Dies while riding

It could be any of a dozen problems, but it sounds like that year old fuel pump. It could be a loose wire killing the pump or even vapor lock. I would start with testing the pump under pressure.

Volvo 240 dl 1987 .. fuel issue....driving down the road, car

Sounds like you need a fuel pump. There is an access panel in the floor of the car to get to the pump.

Suburban stalls while driving after running for 15-30 minutes. After letting it sit for 5-10 min it runs fine for another 5-10 minutes, then starts doing it all over again.

a bad crank sensor can cause this. shuts off while going down road, and will start about 10 min, later with no problems runs fine until it quits again. hope this helps,

Intermittant power lose on 1996 tronph trophy 1200. 15000 miles

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

To my knowledge, most bikes of this class would exhibit the problem you posted if they have loose/faulty:
  • RUN or KILL engine switch;
  • side stand switch;
  • or as the mechanic thinks, the CDI.
You can try and verify by simulating the first two possibilities by riding on a straight road at regular speed and with no traffic.
  • Accelerate as you normally would then switch off the RUN; do the same for the side stand, even a slight extend from rest position would kill the engine.
I doubt if it is fuel related as normally, there would be hesitation and starvation before finally stalling.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.
