I got a new honda elite 80 and there a squeak in the rear of it

    VEHICLE: 2005 Honda Elite CH80

    MILES: 296 currently

PROBLEM: Squeals when you take off from a stop, for about 1-3 seconds -

CONCEPTUALIZATION: This has to be the centripetal clutch making noise as it begins to connect. I assume if I took it apart and filed down the leading edges of the contact material it would not make this noise.

PARTIAL SOLUTION: Another writer said his ELITE always did this and he owned it until 4800 miles.

It's a common problem on the Elite 80.
The entire tail lights and plastic are hang off a two posts.
The fix is to add foam tape on the plastic panels.
Wherever plastic overlap, add a long strip of foam strip.
This will take care of the plastic noise.
====
The single shock + spring can make nosie also.
Do a quick clean up with car wash soap.
Do a good job on the shock and spring.
Dry off the shock and spray some DRY film lube. NOT WD-40
Make sure it's dry lube.
Spray the travel portion of the shock and the base of the spring.

2001 Honda Shadow Sabre vt1100 rear brake squeaks

Hi, Sarah brake squeak is usually caused by excessive heat build up that produces a micro thin shiny glazed film on the brake pads and brake disc rotor that is harder than chicken lips and everyone knows chicken lips are harder than diamonds. Basically, the leading edge of the brake pads acts like the needle on a record player and the brake disc rotor as the record producing the infamous "SQUEAK MUSIC". You may have a pad in which the material was not blended evenly and you are encountering hard spots that are causing the squeak. Another possibility is that the pads are equipped with a wear sensor. This is a small metal tab attached to the pad that rubs on the rotor when the pad is worn to the minimum usable thickness The glaze can easily be removed by sanding the pads in a circular motion on a flat piece of metal, glass or concrete covered by a medium grit sandpaper until the shine is gone and raw brake pad material is visible. The brake disc rotor needs to be deglazed with a power tool, air or electric, that has a 2" sanding pad of Scotch Brite or medium to fine grit sandpaper until the shine is gone. Chamfering the leading and trailing edge of the brake pads at a 45-degree angle will act like a dull needle prolonging or totally eliminating the return Mr. Squeak.

2004 Honda Elite 80 Base owners manual

Hi, Anonymous the vast majority of service, parts fiche, and owners manuals on the internet are "FREE" to download and all service manuals contain wiring diagrams in the back pages. The rest usually charge a modest fee around $10 and there is a handful of obscure, rare, obsolete, and very old models that are no longer or never were available, for these rare occasions I shall look on eBay and find the cheapest one available. Most of the manuals will cover your exact make, model, and year otherwise one will be provided that comes as close as possible to your bike and will have most of the same info that an exact manual would have. If there is no $ sign after the manual link it is free to download for viewing or printing.

I have a 2003 4runner with 102400 miles. It has started to have a squeak somewhere. Sounds like it is on the drivers side. I changed the front brakes and rotors about 10000 miles ago. How does a person...

The rear brakes last a long time since 80% of braking is on the front wheels. This helps keep the car in a straight line in hard braking where the front wheel lock up. The rear wheels keep rolling to keep the car in a straight line much like a fin on a rocket keep its path straight through the air. If you have never changed the rear brakes then it is time to check it. The squeak is caused by a device mounted is such a way so that it touches the brake disk when the pad wears to a certain point. Letting you know it is time for a new pad.
