My 95 ranger 2.3 wont start unless its floored, then idles real high in park and nutural. when put in gear it idles even higher. high enough to break the tires loose when in gear and holding the breaks. what is it?

Replace your hose going from intake to brake booster ( vacuum leak) check all other hoses also. Clean the throttle body. And a tune up probably wont hurt either.
sounds like you need to adjust the distributor, loosen the bold that holds the distributor ( just loosen a very little so you can move it) start the vehicle, and make adjustments, till it idles the way you want it.
You don't, unless it's ridiculously high, like over 1750 rmp. Most cars will idle higher in drive then they do in park. The next time you get caught at a light put it in park and let it sit, it may go higher at first but most lower below what it was idling.
Funny....thats a safety feature ford now uses. Keeps you from blowing the engine and no you cant by pass it. So yes its natural. But nice to know that someone still trys to feed some speed.....
