The bottom screw on the carburetor is the main fuel mixture screw, turn this "in" slowly until is "seats" and then back it out two turns. The idle mixture screw is located on the side (do not confuse with the idle speed screw), turn this in slowly until it seats and then back it out one turn. This will get you in the ballpark but it will have to be fine tuned from their. The proper adjustment is between a "lean" running condition (engine will try to cut off) and a "rich" running condition (engine will load up). The main fuel mixture is adjusted at full throttle position and the idle mixture screw is adjusted at idle speed. Once this is done, you can adjust the idle speed screw in the low throttle position. Hope this helps.

John Deere 322 snowblower fires right up but then kills right away it ran just fine last time it snowed but now it won't stay running.

Sounds like your fuel jet is dirty. I take mine out every so often and blow the little hole out with compressed air. You can also use a small wire to poke through the hole as well. If there is a cup on the bottom of the carb take it off and clean it out. The jet could be on the bottom of the cup.

Clean the cup on the carb as well as the fuel jet. A dirty fuel jet could be your whole trouble.

John deere 455 keeps dieing

Clogged pilot jet inside the carb. You need to remove the jets and ream them so they are clear. If it starts and then dies as soon as you try to throttle up, then it is the pilot jet.

Mower starts and runs for 10 - 15 seconds, then dies. Will almost start again, but soon will not even kick over. After a while, it will start for a few seconds. This is a 15 horse Tecumseh that looks...

It sounds like a carburetor issue. The jets are probably gummed up from the old gas that was in it. Remove the carburetor and clean it out with a can of carb cleaner. Then reinstall.

Hi, You have gum or old gas in the main jet on the carb, turn your fuel off, stand the snowblower on the front blower housing with handles in the air, remove main jet from the bottom of the carb and clean. Jim
