I just purchased a 2001 zx6r and i put 1/3 seafoam and 2 gallons of fresh premium gas. carbs were cleaned 2 years ago. when i run it the rpm will get to about 6 or 7000 rpms but it dies out if you dont cut back on the throttle. also if you try it immediately after it will only get to 3000 rpms. lack of power somewhere in the bike. cleaned out the fuel filter. im thinking it might be a spark plug..any suggestions?

Sounds like fuel starvation, remove airbox lid and check the slides in the carbs are not stuck, this sometimes happens when the fuel in the carbs becomes old and forms a stickey bond between the needle and main jet diffuser, you may benefit from a complete overahaul of the carbs again, 2 years is a long time, and i would not find it unusual to do this anualy unless you continue to use the bike, remove the slides and check the diapram condition for holes, remove the mainjets clean, allso the pilot jets and clean them using a wire from a wire brush push through the jet twisting and pusshing, also blow out the holes the jet screws into, remove the float valves and clean them with some wire wool taking care not to damage the rubber tip, and the valve seating should also be cleaned,

I have a nearly new briggs and stratton 800 snowseries snow blower that was purchased about 5 years ago. Used less then 10 times with no problems. It sat the past few years and still looks really clean....

Most likely the carb is varnished up. Gas sitting too long will go bad and will gum up the carb jets, valve seats, etc. Rebuild the carb, and it should run. If storing for long time make sure to add fuel stabilizer to the gas, run the unit for ten minutes, shut fuel off let it run until it quits, then put in storage.

Ice auger isn't getting gas....

You will probably have to remove and disassemble the carburetor. Clean thoroughly and reassemble. Drain the gas line until fresh fuel comes out. Always run premium nonoxygenated( no ethanol ) fuel in your auger and add a fuel stabilizer like stabil or seafoam .this will help keep the problem from reoccurring. Hope this helps.

probably old gas or condensation built up in carb or injectors.if carbureated drain float bowl & if you still have old gas in it drain tank close drain screw/bolt refill with premium fuel add fuel cleaner like b12 chemtool or seafoam(7-10$) to a fresh tank of gas...sometimes i just add the b12 chemtool (3-5$)and run it a few miles and it snaps right back to new!

My Weed Eater FL1500LE gas leaf blower will not run beyond the full choke setting. If I move the lever to half choke the engine will stop. Or if I move the throttle from full throttle to a lower speed...

This is a tell tale sign of a lean fuel mixture. By choking the unit you are manually creating a richer fuel mixture. I would purchase a compression tester from a local parts store and check compression. If that's ok, I'm willing to bet the problem is still carb related. Two stroke carbs are tricky to clean because of high/low ports that are one way and sometimes impossible to clean. Did you remove high and low needles when cleaning carb? Another trick is to mix seafoam with your gas, then mix two cycle oil to proper ratio. Use 2 ounces seafoam to one gallon of gas, then mix two cycle oil to proper mix. Hope this helps! Good luck and happy wrenching!

My bike is been sitting for a while now i hear back fire

If you are using the fuel with ethanol additive, There is a problem with letting it set for any amount of time. Ethanol draws water to itself, corrodes anything it comes in contact with, and gums up carb jets and fuel passages.

I use and recommend to others that have let their engines set for a period of time over a week or two---Purchase eith SeaFoam, Lucas, or any other fuel additive that will clean and recondition carbs and fuel injectors. Depending how long your bike has set dictates how much of the cleaner to put in, or even if youshould drain the fuel tank.

Setting a couple weeks, and depending how much fuel is in the tank, I would recommend 1/4 to 1/2 can. If you prefer to drain the tank, you can dump in part of the can, crank the engine to draw some into the carb or intake. Let it set an hour or two then try to start with the straight SeaFoam.

Add a gallon of fuel and 1/4 can SeaFoam, start engine and run at high idle for awhile, listening to the engine and see if it runs different. You may want to run SeaFoam for awhile to straighten it out well.

Need to know gas mixture

Yours is not a current model and I did not find a manual. The following is an excerpt from a 26cc MightyLite Blower/Vac UT08550/UT08951 "Operator's Manual":
This product is powered by a 2-cycle engine and requires pre-mixing gasoline and 2-cycle lubricant. Pre-mix unleaded gasoline and 2-cycle engine lubricant in a clean 1 gallon container approved for gasoline.
Recommended fuel: This engine is certified to operate on unleaded gasoline intended for automotive use.
Mix Homelite Premium Exact Mix lubricant with gasoline according to the instructions on the package. If Premium Exact Mix lubricant is not available, use a high quality synthetic 2-cycle engine lubricant, mixed at 2.6 oz. per gallon (US).
Do not use automotive lubricant or 2-cycle outboard lubricant.
NOTE: Premium Exact Mix fuel mix will stay fresh up to 30 days. DO NOT mix quantities larger than usable in a 30 day period.
PREMIUM EXACT MIX (50:1)
GasolineLubricant
1 gallon (US) 2.6 oz.
1 Liter 20 cc (20 ml)

If properly adjusted your blower will operate fine on 50:1 regardles of what the manual reads. HTH

Can you put fuel cleaner in your gas tank? my bike runs fine then it stalls and sometimes it won't start. I just bought the bike and the owner had it setting for 2 years in his garage can it be bad gas?

Hello shawn...Yes indeed gasoline can degrade over time. That can lead to a number of problems, ranging from hard starting, to rough running, to no starting at all...If your bike was stored for 2 years the gasoline in it has degraded beyond use. Even if the gas was treated with stabiliser before it was stored...it will still degrade in 10-12 months, if not sooner. I'm suprised your bike will even start. I suggest you drain ALL the gas out of the tank, Rinse and refill with fresh gas, drain your carbs as well...the stale gas has most likely clogged the pilot jets, draining the carb bowls will help.
Go to your parts store and buy a can of "Seafoam" pour 1/2 of it in with your fresh gas..use the other 1/2 on your next tank of gas.
Replace fuel filter after 1st tank, the seafoam will dislodge any debris that was in the fuel tank. It will also clean the combustion chambers and carb jets. Check your carb boots for any cracks or detoration that would cause a vacuum leak. Replace your spark plugs. If your bike is still running rough after this, then the carbs will need to be removed and cleaned and/or rejetted.
Good luck..i hope this helps, please rate me a fixya.

No Power at High RPM

Sounds like a fuel problem, possible stuck needle valve. Did you check for vacuum leaks? How about the fuel itself, did you treat it before storage to prevent gelling and varnish ? If not your entire fuel system may be restricted. Purchase a can of Seafoam...pour in 1/2 of it to a tank of gas, use the other 1/2 on the next tank. Change fuel filter afterwards because any foreign materials will be in the filter from the cleaning process. Third tank normal fill.
Good luck...i hope this helps.
