Hi and welcome to fixya,

Those are the fumes from the carburetor, its almost always normal. You can take it out and dry it under the sun, you may also wash it in dishwashing liquid and warm water and dry it under the sun (if it is a foam filter).

Hope this helps

I think you should put some thought into soaking the whole carb in cleaner fluid. seems the little passages for fuel are plugged and should be blown free with pressurized air after a good long soak. this happens with age, especially if the thing sits over winter or other long periods with no stablizer put in the gas before storage. gas turns into a lacquer like substance without the stabilizer.

Poulan wild thing 18" Won't Start, Plug is wet

Check the air cleaner and muffler for plugging. Remove the carburetor, open the lower chamber and check the diaphragm for any holes or cracking. Also check the small fuel control valve that the diaphragm controls--either can cause flooding if not working properly. Hope this helps!

How to clean/change air filter on McCulloch 230 saw

These air filters can be soaked in gasoline and dried with great results. Make sure to soak, wring, soak, wring, soak, wring, until all the oil/dirt/chip particles are gone, then wring and let air dry overnight. A moist filter will only collect more debris, so you may roll in papertowel a few minutes prior to install to insure you have gotten all the left over gas out.

Hey, I think you are looking in the wrong area. The 5.7l distributer and rotor buttons are prone to getting wet. You need to remove the cap and clean the rotor, distrib cap and any internal components you can see. Good luck. Also check the plug wires to see if they are wet. Cheers

Pouring gas into throttle body in large amounts and soaking air filter will not start

A flooded engine will never start. Pull plug or plugs if they are wet. Check for spark too.

Air Filter soaked with gas

Clean It with soap and water and afterwards let it dry and put a little bit of motor oil on the filter. You may want to check your petcocks because they may be leaking. Be cautious when you ride with a gas soaked air filter the airbox may catch on fire if the motorcycle backfires which I have experienced in the past.

Clothes soaking

Gregg, remove the bottom panel. Right in front you will see the filter. Get a flat pan and remove the filter cover. Pull the filter strainer out and remove the lint and whatever else you find. You should be fine after that...Catriver..post back
