Where is the kick cble located on a 1990 chevy blazer,my blazer wont shift to 2ng gear

You need to check the fluid and if it smells burnt and looks black, then you will have to rebuild or replace your transmission.

check your kick down cable attached to the carb, it may be out of adjustment and forcing the trans to stay in "passing gear"

Take it to a transmission expert, but it could be the shifting soleniods.

no the safty switch is to stop you starting it up in gear,,and then running yourself over! if you took it off it must be shorted out or the car wont start in any gear

if this happens only in the morning after you start for the first time its the clutch on the fanblade needs replacing

Replace the transmission.

i know what you mean i have the exact same problem with my 97 blazer. it takes for ever to get up to speed and in gear,but if i shift from 1st to 4th on my own it runs fine! i dont understand the key thing either but my husband took off the plastic around the sterring coloum and therer is a little button under the iginition and if you press it in key will turn over and come out!!!! its so weird cause sometimes i crank the truck up and it takes off like it has never had a problem,and as soon as i turn it off the key comes out . then the very next time it will happen again!!!!!!!! let me know if you find out th e reason!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

problem one adust the safety netural switch to allow itto start without having to push up, Problem 1990 ford the shat bentthe shift linkage, Problem three this is the Nissan section not ford and chevy.

YOU HAVE A SHIFT SOLENOID THAT HAS EITHER FAILED OR IS STUCK, DO YOU HAVE ANY TRANS TROUBLE CODES?
