sensor 1 is the heated oxygen sensor(HO2S) in the exhaust manifold before the cat converter

How many do you have O2 sensors front and back?

back head, top sensor.

It is before the catalytic converter in the exhaust pipe, on the side of the engine with cylinder number two.

1-3-4-2 owners manual should show you where number one is.

First let me say the odds of the sensor being bad are 50/50. The trouble code would tell you the sensor is not reading correctly, not necessarily that the sensor has failed.
Bank two is on the side with cylinder number 2 and sensor one is in front of the catalytic converter.

O2 Bank 1 sensor is before the catalytic converter, is located just behind where the exhaust pipes from the front bank of cylinders and rear bank of cylinders join up.


The other sensor goes into the side of the catalytic converter, it is bank 1 sensor 2.

bank 1 is the three cylinders toward the rear of the vehicle. Cylinder 1 is the cylinder on that bank which is closest to the passenger side. There are only two oxygen sensors on the vehicle. Bank 1 sensor 1 is just after the merge of the rear bank exhaust pipe with the front bank pipe. Sensor 1 is visible if you look under the vehicle from the front. Bank 1 sensor 2 is the sensor "downstream" or after the catalytic converter. Actually, it is stuffed into the side of the catalytic converter. There are only two sensors because with a single tailpipe, only one cat' is involved.
